Lucky Craft Man Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I know several members here order a lot from Reeds on-line. I just made my first order about a week ago. I got a confirmation e-mail that my order was received the day I placed it, but they haven't charged my credit card yet, nor sent the item. I was just wondering if this is usually for them (which if it is, then it's no big deal). I know people have talked about receiving items from them rather quickly and were wondering if I should inquire further or not. Thanks in advance for your help. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 No not unusual based on what you bought. I bought a 70 lb Minn Kota from them and had it in three days. I bought an Otter Two Man Shanty and it took at week for it to hit my card and ship. The Otter shipped direct from the factory and the Minn Kota from Reeds. This may be the difference. Just check with them they are very responsive. Quote

rfrazier Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I had a problem with Reeds about a year ago, when I ordered a Legend Tourney on sale. They charged my card, sent me an email saying the rod was shipped. I emailed them after about a week and got no response. I waited some more, when I should have just called. I finally gave them a call and they said the rod I ordered was "Out of Stock", and he offered me the Musky version which was a completely different rod with a lure rating over 1.5 ounces higher... At this point the sale was over and I didn't have the rod. I asked for a rod of equal MSRP pre-sale, and he wouldn't do it, in which case I asked for my money back, and am not going to order from them again. I would call them ASAP. Quote
fathom Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 ordered a steez from them once. card was charged and confirmation was sent...unfortunately, no reel was ever sent. a quick phone call cleared it up...they're good folks but, like all folks, they do make honest mistakes. and, as stated, a lotta stores simply dropship gloomis straight from the factory. i would still call them. Lucky Craft Man Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 I took your guys advice and called them. They confirmed that my order will be coming straight from G Loomis and they won't charge me until they receive a shipping confirmation number from G Loomis. Very nice guy I spoke with. Hopefully, the rod will get here soon so I can look at it for the next 2 monthes waiting for the ice to melt. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 hmmm...the mystery continues. I was wondering why G Loomis was taking so long to send the items, so I decided to call them directly. I by chance talked with a lady whose account just happened to be Reeds Sporting Goods. She said there was no order made by Reeds under my name and futhermore, the two rods I ordered through Reeds are no longer in stock in their G Loomis facilities. She said she was confused and going to get to the bottom of it. I am very confused as well... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 10, 2009 Super User Posted February 10, 2009 I hope you'll let us know how this turns out. I have had no problems with Reed's, but now that you have G. Loomis on the case, I'm sure this will be resolved in short order. However, there should not be a need for outside help. Reed's should have delivered the rods or notified you that there was a problem. Very strange. :-/ Quote
SimonSays Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Reeds have been pretty good to me, they keppt me up to date with rods I ordered and when one came broken they sent me another rod with a return tube. I didn't check my statements though as to when they charged me. Recently when they had the St croix elites on sale I had ordered a few, I called to confirm and reeds said they would be shipping out the next day. On the next day they called me back saying they didn't have that model (66MHF) anymore and asked if I wanted another...they were kind of pushy about it..after asking about 2 other rods that happen to also be out of stock I told them I wasn't intersted anymore and they just hung up on me...I felt that was really rude...I give them the benefit of the doubt though as they probably had to call alot of others that day. THEbassmaster Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 ive had the same problem with them. i ordered a GLoomis as well, and they sent the confirmation email and charged the card. so a week went by and i called and they said theyll ship it out right away? so after about another week i called again and they said they just shipped it that day. finally got the rod but after ALOT of frustration. i will never order from there again, even if it is a better deal than another place. aaron Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Well, the saga has ended. The representative from G Loomis called me this morning and said she spoke with an individual at Reeds Sporting Goods and that this individual was going to contact me today. She also apologized profusely and said that if he doesn't call me today, to let her know and she will handle the situation personally. Later in the day I did receive a call from a gentleman from Reeds Sporting Goods. He said that my order was cancelled, because G Loomis no longer makes that rod and I won't be charged. I was happy to receive an answer, but I am still wondering why I was told last week it was going to be shipped? Oh well, at least I don't have to wait and wonder if it will come or not and I can start looking for that rod elsewhere. Through the whole process, I realized one thing. People comment on how much a G Loomis rod costs and if it's worth it or not and after my dealing with G Loomis, I realize their rods are worth every penny, not only in performance, but in customer service. That Customer Service Agent went out of her way to make sure an order, I didn't even place directly with her, was rectified and if she didn't take the time to track down the problem, I might still be waiting 3 weeks from now for an answer. My hats of to G Loomis and I will continue to support their product. PS I also told her if she wouldn't mind relaying a message to the engineering department, which was that they should never produce any rods with a split grip. She said she hasn't seen any future designs with that feature in it. Another great answer from G Loomis. Quote
