Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Anyone watching Zonas show? Pretty cool. This is what fishing is to me. These guys got so excited over a 40lb "sea donkey" (love Zona) that they were giddy and hugging each other. How many fish have these guys caught in this lifetime??? It never gets old and sharing with someone you totally respect and appreciate is just the bomb. It's Zonas show and Bill is tutoring him. Zona is more than fine with that, submitting alpha male status (his show) to the Gentleman, teacher and ambassador. Inspiring to someone who also loves to teach. Guys hugging and jumping up & down over a great catch says a lot in this society. Great stuff. Good fishing Quote
Still a Bigbuckifan Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 It was a great show . Bill even took Zona out for another day so he could catch a fish. Bill dance is about as big of a class act as you can be. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 31, 2009 Super User Posted January 31, 2009 Guys hugging and jumping up & down over a great catch says a lot in this society. Yes it does... :-X Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 31, 2009 Super User Posted January 31, 2009 Whats the name of the show??? World's Greatest Fishing Show on ESPN2 Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Whats the name of the show??? WGFS (Worlds Greatest Fishing Show) Walnuts- Don't look now but your insecurities are showing :-* Quote
drmnbig Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 That was a great show. My wife was even interested in watching it. I had to laugh at how he ended it with the little cat. ;D Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Funny but also very representative of how it often happens. Just a great fishing trip all around, caught on tape Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted January 31, 2009 Super User Posted January 31, 2009 I watched Bill Dance today and I don't understand why some here like to criticize him. (fortunately noone on this thread) The show was about prespawn bassin, he never pushed a bait, was fishing out of a johnboat, and was very informative as to what he thought was the most important factors in presenting the jig. The Gamatsu tackle box highlighted what he was fishing with, in writing but he did not go on verbally about it. The man has to pay for air time, so he has sponsors, don't think he sells out, (sorry that is off track), Anway what I like about watching Bill Dance, is that it is like going fishing with a friend. He is constantly teaching his way of catching fish, some may disagree with his methods but his show is always informative. I like the way he shows so much respect for the fish, he seems genuinely excited about every fish he catches, talks about their color, size or whatever. He doesn't jerk em up over the side but handles them with care, doesn't throw em back in but gently lowers them back to the water, or a small low toss, this shows a lot about his character, and consideration for the fishery, and respect for the fish. I think that he is the best ambassador we have for our sport, and respect his intensity, knowledge and accomplishments. Tight Lines Bill and keep making your show. FWIW I started watching Bill Dance in the late 70's early 80's long before he was nationally syndicated, and now 25-30 years later, he is still the same guy that he was on the first shows. I guess I grew up watching him, I was a kid not even a teenager when I started watching his show. Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 31, 2009 Super User Posted January 31, 2009 Guys hugging and jumping up & down over a great catch says a lot in this society. Yes it does... :-X Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;D I'm not a huge Bill Dance fan but Zona made this a great show. Fun and educational with no product promos. That's the way it should be. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 That was a great show, they were acting like two ten year olds catching their first fish. Very inspiring. Quote

Super User fishinfiend Posted January 31, 2009 Super User Posted January 31, 2009 Zona is way too over the top for me. He reminds me of Chris Berman. I have worked with cokeheads that were less enthusiastic. He needs to switch to decaf and take it down a few notches. I 'm all for celebration and excitement but it seems that he is non stop. This is Zona fishing>>>>> This is me >>>>>> 8-) Quote
Joel W Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I actually got to watch both shows today. Zona's show is always 1st class and really entertaining. Dances show today was dead on for the pre-spawn. One of his best. Quote
Strike King Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 GREAT SHOW! i wished it was 2 hours long :-) I love Marks show i also dug his old show "Loudmouth Bass" i think it was called. Bill is great as always, it was goodtimes watching those two having fun! Quote
flipinstick88 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 WGFS probably my favorite fishing show. Did you guys the gator gar episode awhile back? Man, it was awesome!! ;D Quote
405z06 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 WGFS probably my favorite fishing show. Did you guys the gator gar episode awhile back? Man, it was awesome!! ;D Ditto. Zona always kinda irritated me on Bassmasters for some reason, but with his own show he shows his true colors and I find him absolutely hilarious now. The alligator gar show had me LOL'ing the whole time. I DVR his show and I actually had to rewind it a couple of times I was laughing so hard. I also like "Day on The Lake" and Hank Parker. It also doesn't hurt that all 3 are broadcast in HD. Quote
nboucher Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I can't believe I find the time to watch these shows, but I can't help myself. I like Zona cuz he's a Yankee and so represents that us Northern folk can get pretty excited about bass fishing, too. Bill Dance himself couldn't believe how well he was doing with those big cats. At one point in the show, Zona asks him why he is so good, and Dance appears befuddled by his own skill. "I'm lucky," he says . . Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Good show and quite funny when Zona caught the little dink..... ;D Quote
Arty Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I have to agree I think the Gator Gar episode was hysterical. Zona is the real deal. The Muskie episode a few weeks back was also pretty funny. I thought Zona getting the "T" hat from Dance was pretty impressive... Quote
MbBass Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 That show was so funny . The more Zone kissed him , the more bill tried to turn away . Zona has much man luv for bill . But i have alwayz been a B. Dance fan . He has a great attitude . And thats what fishing should be . Good fishing to you all Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 It was a good show, as all of Zona's shows are. It is about the only fishing show I can stand other than the B.A.S.S. Elite series coverage, and Hook -n- Look. I like it because it's actually a show about fishing.........not an infomercial where some fishing occurs. Even some of my other favorite shows have become lure commercials, Lindners Angling Edge is a Rapala/Berkley/Shimano orgy., and In-Fisherman is worse. Quote
shootermcbob Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I saw the show as well. I think Zona is hilarious. He has so much fun doing his thing. I wish I had that much fun at work. Quote
UPS VT Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I remember an episode of his WGFS a while ago where his camera man caught a SMB on Erie that was just shy of the NY state record. They caught so many big SM it was great. Quote
