indy basser Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I have always heard on cheaper crankbaits to switch out the factory hooks. Most crankbaits i lose very few fish but my favorite shallow cover, squarebill crank seems to cause me to lose a bunch. I have always been stubborn and not put in the effort to switch the hooks. I have decided to do the right thing and change em out. I think I am going to buy some Owner Stinger trebles but my question is, what size trebles do you guys like for cranking shallow wood and would you recommend another replacement treble hook? Quote
Banor Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I think you are going to find the answer depends on the size of the bait. B Quote
deadeye32. Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 for most shallow water cranks, I would go with a size 4 most of the time and size 6 on the larger baits. Look at the original hooks on the bait and just replace accordingly. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 12, 2009 Super User Posted March 12, 2009 You can print this up and use to compare for size: http://www.vmchooks.com/consumers/. I usually replace with Owner Stingers or Lucky Craft OEM hooks. Quote
