PD Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Tonight at 10:00 the National Geographic channel is airing a show called " Hooked on Bass". Suppose to have KVD and other stuff. Might be worth checking out. Here's a little more info I found: Tonight at 10 pm, the National Geographic Channel will show "Hooked on Bass," which takes a look at bass and the sport of bass fishing from the perspectives of three groups of fishermen: * A father and son who compete in a big-bass tournament in Texas * Two friends who are obsessed with catching the world record largemouth in California, and * Kevin VanDam, as he captures his fourth Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year award last summer. The film is narrated by Tommy Sanders and was produced and directed by Tim Schick of CS&E (JM Associates). It includes a number of underwater scenes bass anglers are sure to love. The show will be re-aired February 28 at 8 pm eastern. http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/wild/4026/Overview Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 It airs at 10PM, 1AM tonight. Channel 186 if you have Dish Network. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 It is also supposed to have a section about Bob Sealy and his big bass tournaments he puts on. Most have been here in Texas, but he now has the one on gunterville each year. should be interesting. The one this year on Rayburn is advertising a million dollar payout. Quote
Simp Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 NG usually does great stuff. So I'm really looking forward to this special. I don't know if anybody caught the Air Force one and Marine One special but they were also very cool. Quote

bladeslinger Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Some of the best underwater footage since Glen Lau's "Bigmouth" Quote
chad14 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Been awhile since I have been on the forum but while channel surfing came on this show...logged on just to share with the other bassheads in the world but someone beat me too it. Pretty cool to see the "DOTTIE" story that I read on the forum here! chad can't wait for it to warm up here in NC!!! <=====>< looking for the 15lbr this summer! Quote
The_Natural Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 It was kind of funny...they showcased the California 'bed fisherman' right after they explained how easy it was to catch a bass that is guarding a nest "Anglers take advantage of the clearly visible bass and its willingness to strike at anything". Quote
BassinBoy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 For me, that was one of the best shows on bass i've seen in a long time! :) Quote
BassChump Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I'm on the west coast. What channel is it on Directv????? Quote

hawgchaser Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I thought it was a great show! I also like that it was done on a non sportsmans channel. National Geographic did a great job as usual. I have it recorded and will watch it again. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Can't wait to get home and hit play on the DVR! Quote
USA-1 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Its great that NG put the time/resources for that show. I thought it was put together and I really liked the overall format. Hopefully, this will continue to help encourage folks of all ages to invest in a rod and reel and go fishing! We need more spokes people to support this valuable industry. Quote
BassinBoy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Got it recorded on DVR Can't wait to watch it agian They did a fantastic job Quote
The Next KVD Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I thought it was very good. I really liked the story on Dottie. Now I know even more about the story and LOVED IT!! Quote
Simp Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Here is a pick from the show where the bass appears to be "bed watching" for humans. ;D Quote
rippin_lips Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I just watched the 3 minute clip of the Dotie story on youtube. I cant wait to see the show on monday. Anyone who missed it should definatly check out the sample; just search "hooked on bass" on youtube. Quote
Other. Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I thought it was great! The only thing is that I felt as they kind of kept repeating the same stuff over and over again. Other then that I loved the few underwater shots they had. Was really neat. Quote
