Super User CWB Posted January 24, 2009 Super User Posted January 24, 2009 What if you're a non boater? I've viewed the previous road trip videos and it seems like everyone has a boat. I'll have extra room on my boat, and I'm sure other guys will also have room on theirs. WARNING: I do ALOT of morning and night fishing Just worry about getting there I'm a morning and night guy myself. (Afternoons too). Being a rookie and not bringing a boat, how do the pair-ups work? If Crappie are tearing it up, no problems there. Went out with a guide last year and 2 of us caught at least 100 12"+. Didn't care for Spider set-up though. Cant Wait!!! Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 25, 2009 Super User Posted January 25, 2009 I checked outthe state site that was given for on-line fishing license. Gonna get that done soon too. According to what I read, they just bill my credit card and issue a number to copy and retain. That's easy enough. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 25, 2009 Super User Posted January 25, 2009 Being a rookie and not bringing a boat, how do the pair-ups work? Cant Wait!!! We don't come on these trips to fish alone. We always have a plan to have a name draw each night at dinner but we haven't had to do it yet. It always seems to work out. But if there is anyone who doesn't have a seat in a boat by dinner each night you better tell me so we can make sure you do. If you don't come find me it's on you. Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 Thanks FM. Sounds great. Can't wait to meet you guys in person! See you there. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 What will it cost to fish a day with Burley? ;D I charge $125/day for my services. $225 if you want to catch fish. $500 if you're not fishing Shimano reels. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 I'll take you for free if you don't have any Shimano Reels. If you have them then I hope you can swim. Quote

I'm the same way but it's mostly because I don't want to hear the shimano guys whining. "Man my arms are tired, this Curado D sure is heavy." "My hands hurt, this D reel feels like a toaster strapped to the top of my carrot stick." "Sorry the boats listing so badly, I'll take fewer rods next time." "What's this greenish black dust all over my hands? Are my Curado E graphite end plates starting to disintegrate?" I'm not big on having a Loomis guy in the boat either.... SNAP!! "Hey, do you have a spare worm rod I can borrow?" Quote

clipper Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 After reading about the fishing up there I called the campground and reserved Monday night too. I will now be staying Monday afternoon thru Friday morning. Have space in the boat if you are willing to relieve me on the trolling motor occasionally, fish for smallmouth half the day, and smell my JJ's Magic in the dry box . Campsite 29. Quote
