flipinstick88 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I have just started to fish tournaments as a non boater, I plan on fishing 9 next year. I would like to win at least one! Quote
cbreeze22 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Experiment more with cranks. Experiment more with different line types for different applications. Stay calm when my Bro walks over my bass rod Quote
OH-bass614 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 be able to catch a quality limit in the average trip get first in a tourney fish plastics the way i can crankbaits Quote
the crab Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 At least one money finish in a major local circuit (WVBF or Trail of Dreams). Finish the season in the top 20 in my local division. Become more confident in deep structure fishing. Become more confident in lipless cranks. Catch better quality fish during the dog days of summer, seems like 2lbs was about the best I could do this July/August. Quote
stratosjoe Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 make myself use the depthfinder more to eliminate some water then force myself to slow down and fish water 15-30' with a jig, carolina rig and a shakey head. :-X Quote
OK Bass Hunter Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Learn how to flip and pitch and to adjust the brake system on my Calcuttas. Quote
BassinSoldier Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 1. Teach my 6yr. old daughter how to use plastics, and why to use certain lures in certain situations. (hopefully she'll have the patience...if not there'll always be a can o' worms and a float for back-up) 2. Like many others, gain confidence in jigs. Quote
IDbasser Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 To fish jigs, and be productive at it catch a 6+# smallie catch a fish on a frog Quote
brgbassmaster Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Learn to fish cold water better and slow. Learn to fish football jigs on the numerous rock points in my lake i fish. Catch more fish in the prespawn. Quote
JShrock07 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 1. Fish slower; I am also trying to move way to fast for the fish 2. Learn more about jig fishing 3. Try new spots: I'm always using my usual hot spots 4. Learn how to control my boat better then I can now 5. Be more patient with the wife while she attempts to enjoy my sport 6. Start catching my limit on every tournament whether or not I win or make any money 7. Try to cope with the jerks that fish in the tournaments I fish in. 8. Learn more about fishing!!!! Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 1. Become better fishing Shallow Crankbaits (I just started using them in the fall, and did well, but I know theres more to learn on them) 2. Catch a 20lb+ Striper from the surf 3. Catch a 6lb+ largemouth. I have caught a few 4 1/2 - 5lb fish, but have never caught a 6lber. Theyre rumored to be in the waters I fish, but I have never seen one in person. The local ponds of NJ don't hold too many big fish. 4. Learn how to skip cast 5. Further improve my skills with all the baits in my arsenal, from spinnerbaits to softplastics to topwaters etc. 6. Further my knowledge and understanding on how the bass act and where they move to during different seasons/conditions on my lakes. (I have found it to be true that how bass act on big bodies of water, can be very different to how bass act in small local ponds, and this is very frustrating because everyone talks about how to find bass during different seasons on big lakes, but no one talks about the effects of seasons on bass in small local ponds. I want to discover this for myself, and spread the word to others.) Quote
The Next KVD Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 1. Continue to work on fishing slower 2. Get better at fishing Swimbaits 3. Learn how to catch smallies on a more consistant basis. ( Only time I can truly rely on smallies is when they'r on beds) Quote
IdahoLunkerHunter Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 1. Fish more - I got my boat in mid-August, gutted it, and gave it a facelift. Gustav hit in September. I was able to take my boat out only a handful of times. > 2. Eliminate unproductive water/establish a pattern water quicker 3. Increase my confidence in jigs, spinnerbaits, and finesse techniques 4. Utilize a fishing log/database to better understand what happens when I'm on the water Ive been wanting to do this for years and this year I am going to do it! Need to fish more 20+ feet also. Cheers! Quote

1inStripes Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I believe it was 1-1 or 2-1 you that day. Nothing to brag about either way. I'll have to get you some of those mushrooms this year. Maybe they will be up in time and you can share some in W. KY. I fished Big Stoney on 1/1 and fitting only caught 1. Quote
mattm Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 1) Catch my Pb 2) Become a better winter fisherman. I've cheated this year so much and been going to a power plant lake 3) Not to fish a texas rig so much. On most days I believe I can make them bite a t-rig. I have way to much confidence in it. Quote

Catch a new pb largemouth (gotta be over 8 lbs.) 4. SLOW DOWN, pay attention to what mother nature is trying to tell me...... 5. Pay more attention to everything thats going on around me when I catch a fish (printed off some fishing logs, my goal is to fill out 20 of them) Quote
