Unfortunatley, I sit at my desk doing paperwork, and going back and forth between BR, E-bay, and fishing sites.  Bait Monkey never seems to wait for sales either!

I love my monkey...

Without him i wouldnt have about 3 grand into fishing gear in about 2 years....

3 Grand in the last two years?  I wish I got off that lucky.  I went to upgrade one rod to a G Loomis and that's where the trouble started.  16 G Loomis Rods later (with matching high end reels), a new boat, quadrupled tackle possession, and more.  It never ends...

Deffinition of the Bait Monkey -

A demonic little creature , that will make you spend every last dime you have , on lures , line , etc..... That you do not necesarily need , At times he WILL get you in TROUBLE with your WIFE/GF . HE is not an easy adversary to git rid of . In order to get rid of the Bait Monkey , You must quit fishing and find another hobby . THERE IS NO OTHER CURE .

What! Quit your hobby and find another! Gee, thats how I got here. I sold my hot rod and all my mag wheels and spare parts. I took the money and >$1,500boat  $2,100trolling motor, depth finders, seats, carpet @1,600 Rods,Reels and tackle.Ive been fishing 3 years now and I think Ive got every size, color, and shape of soft plastic available.Oh yes,the monkey is alive and well!

Here's my bait monkey, his name is 'Rasta'

He can tie polomar knots and clinch knots, he can sharpen hooks, and he's pretty darn good at retrieving jigs and crankbaits that I've lost. I didn't think monkeys could swim, so he's obviously a very dedicated bait monkey.

There must be twins because I have the same looking monkey! ;D

You are right on both accounts. BTW its also hard feeding the bait monkey when you are 48, don't live with your parents, have a low paying job, need to pay 20% of all your medical expenses, dress like a homeless guy gave you his hand-me-downs, own a car that breaks down every thursday, lives in a town that raises its taxes twice a year, etc, etc, etc. But we all still do it. Jump on the bandwagon and be happy.

He got me Saturday when I bought my wife a new spinning set up. I really like it and want one too. A wise man once said to me "it's better to ask for forgiveness than to ask permission". Any truth to this? ?

Mine is a Costa Rican howler named Puro. He doesn't care that I own more tackle than a dozen guys could use in a lifetime, or that I know I have several of that thing in the shopping cart buried somewhere in the garage, or even that I'm probably getting some for Xmas, It's feeding time!

Everybody needs at least one monkey in their life.  Not all monkeys are created equal.  The Bait Monkey is one of the coolest!!  You buy stuff in the moment that you think you gotta have.  Then short term you say, "You moron, that's the last thing you needed."  Fast forward a few months, or a year or two.  You're reading about a technique you like and the recommended baits/tackle.  And you already have it!  Attaboy!

I’m going to Oklahoma next month to meet brother and friends. I just fly in with my gear and walk into their camp.  The are gracious enough to plan food and stuff.  I bought a handful of JON topwaters to hand out as gifts.  While I was shopping the bait monkey whispered, “hey toy may as well maximize on your free shipping…”

The Bait Monkey is an S.O.B. that is also my best friend.  My Mother always told me to choose my friends wisely.  I was stubborn and rarely listened to good advice.  If I had listened I would be wealthy, but wouldn't own a priceless, lifetime, treasure box of lures.

to be honest, i severed my tumultuous relationship with the "knife-monkey" so i can do it again here.  but baits tear and get snagged/lost.  jus sayin.

Raul I was around when you named him but he now has rabies give him a shot so he calms down.

The bait monkey?  He's just one of the cast in the movie of my life.  Other stars include, the Harley Monkey, the Jeep Monkey, the Classic Mustang Monkey, the Boat Monkey, the Bourbon Monkey, the Gun Monkey.  These are all sketchy friends that lead me down the wrong path but nobody, and I mean nobody, has done the kind of damage that the Twice Divorced Monkey has done.  He's an ice cold S.O.B.
