Cool you got a fine boat, sorry about your grandpa, can't help with your fishing since you never told us where you at.

Suks about your grandpa. As far as the boat goes, I'd bundle up and take it out. I know its cold up there right now but I'd still do it. I wouldnt be able to resist, unless there is some mechanical type reason that you shouldnt be boating in 14 degree weather  :D

I live in the mountain state and I usually hit the lake on the first week of March every year.  Usually by then, most of the ice is melted off the main lake and you should be looking at daytime temps in the mid 40's to low 50's.  Fishing will be slow but when you get bit, 90% of the time it will be a toad.  Shoot me a PM sometime, there are a few of us on here that live in WV that fish together quite often.  I even get together with some of the members from the surrounding states, it makes for awesome fishing trips.

Not knowing where you are from, I can't really say how advisable it is to take your boat out. If the water is cold, however, I wouldn't recommend you take a new (to you) boat out. Nor should you go out if you aren't very experienced at boating. A spill in frigid water can be fatal in a hurry. Call me a wuss but that's my humble opinion.
