I dedicated a room for my fishing gear.  Rod racks, rods, reels, lures, tackle boxes, fishing lines, fishing decor, you name it.

And I gotta tell ya I go in there every day to make sure all is safe and sound.

When I had my garage built I had the carpenter build me a closet to be able to store rod tubes along the sides, shelves for all kinds of boxes full of baits, plastics and lures.  The top shelf was designed to hold the spare electic motors and extra gator mounts.  Like anything else as big as it is with the double doors and wide deep depth it is getting smaller as time goes on.

Haha, I'm not as fortunate enough to have garages to keep all of my fishing gear in. I am left with a small little closet. Home Depot has some cheap wire shelving. I just need to think about how I am going to set it up to get the most out of my closet.

Just a thought but, would you have room to install shelving up high. What I am thinking is that you can put shelves from a certain height and then up to the top, but will still allow you some floor space and room to store things on the floor, like tackleboxes....or bins of plastics ;).

I had one wall in my basement dedicated to fishing stuff with my rods hung horizontally on pegs mounted to the wall. I ran out of room and Glenn made me some neat rod racks that are mounted from the floor joists overhead. To get a rod out, you release a catch and the rack swings down from one side on hinges to a vertical position. When you are done you swing it back up and latch it. It is then above your head and out of the way. I have two of them and each one holds 14 rods. I now have enough room to store all my rods and my son's rods without having any standing up in corners. I tried taking a picture but I have so much other "junk" in the basement it didn't show up good. I also came by some of the plastic drawer units that I use for misc. stuff and have a shelving unit for my other tackle. I don't use half the stuff I have and I suspect many of you are the same way. Tha bait monkey usually wins.

13 years ago, my wife said I needed to build her a bigger house so that there would be room for my fishing gear and her.....so I built a home that was four times larger with a four car garage and she was happy...

We are out of room again and she says I need a warehouse....she's right   :)
