Super User Fishing Rhino Posted January 9, 2009 Super User Posted January 9, 2009 Don't need to. Our refrigerator makes enough to keep us supplied. Sorry, the devil made me do it. : Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 9, 2009 Super User Posted January 9, 2009 I used to, for pike mostly. Do you ever fish for bass through the ice? Quote
bassmedic46 Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 I try too. Haven't been out yet. Best time for me since I don't have a boat. Now I can get to more places. Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Don't need to. Our refrigerator makes enough to keep us supplied. Sorry, the devil made me do it. : ;D you beat me to it! I live in the North Country but find it is way too cold to ice fish any more,.....give me some warm water and sunny skies and I am a happy camper. Quote
bassmedic46 Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 I'm hoping to do better ice fishing then i did last summer. Got nothing. If I can I am going to try and get a jon boat this year if the finances allow it. Quote
paragon Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I do alot of ice fishing here in MI, Bass are usually easier to catch during first ice and last ice periods. Much harder to catch mid winter. But I have seen some big ones caught through the ice. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 10, 2009 Super User Posted January 10, 2009 I'm hoping to do better ice fishing then i did last summer. Don't feel bad, I NEVER do well ice fishing in the summer! Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 10, 2009 Super User Posted January 10, 2009 I do. Grimlin and I are going out Monday. My buddy went out yesterday and got thirty-five jumbo perch. Falcon Quote
IDbasser Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I ice fish. Will be going after some perch on my next days off. Quote

ring fry Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I used to when I lived in Nebraska and loved it. We caught a lot of crappie, bluegill, some bass and a few cats. I really don't miss it though, I hate cold weather. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted January 10, 2009 Super User Posted January 10, 2009 I tried it once, flew up to Duluth MN and can safely say that the few fish we caught were not worth being In 0 degree temps...lol That's the coldest this Southern boy has ever been. Quote

Sorry, the devil made me do it. : ;D you beat me to it! I live in the North Country but find it is way too cold to ice fish any more,.....give me some warm water and sunny skies and I am a happy camper. Me too. Once upon a time, I enjoyed camping out with a friend of mine, even in the dead of winter. Now, I want a warm snug bed. I don't mind the snow, as long as I can view it from the inside of a house or vehicle that is warm. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted January 13, 2009 Super User Posted January 13, 2009 No, too hard to cast and hit that little hole! :-/ Quote
dmac14 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I love to ice fish, just went out today caught a bunch of nice perch and even pulled a 2lb bass out of the hole! made my day/winter Quote
Tom H. Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I like to ice fish , we went out last weekend and caught 57 crappie and gills , went out this morning and caught 32 crappie and gills , going to go out again this weekend too . Quote
farmpond1 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'll be heading out this weekend for a go at it. It's fun as long as I'm sure the ice is thick enough. Nothing takes the thrill out of something so much as wondering if you might plunge through into icy cold water (or, of course, actually going through). That hasn't happened yet and I want to keep it that way. Quote
ventureboat Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 My buddy and I ice fish a few local farm ponds. It's fun, but I prefer takin the boat to the power plant lakes here in IL. Quote
