Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 Let's see...... It will be 65 degrees tomorrow and once again I'll be on the lake with spotaholic. Winter is great. I looked and looked but I can't seem to find any little smiley faces giving the finger... I have one with TWO "FINGERS" but I don't think I would be the Moderators favorite person after posting it . :-/ You go back to dropshotting ledges on your lake and I'll keep catching them shallow on mine. Come to think of it. I need to get up there and spend a day on your boat Mike. I'll shoot you a line when I'm in the area. Quote
wishin4fishin Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Reorganizing tackle, watching KVD Vids, and lots of essential bathroom bass reading In Fisherman, Bassmaster magazine, last year's Cabelas Catalog. He he he Quote

BassNub Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm drooling away looking at pictures of my catches of 08. I'm trying my best to be patient but I've organized my tackle over 10 times already and bought 2 new rod and reels. Spooling and re-spooling line again and again on the reels. Just standing in my basement practicing some pitching and thinking of new ways to use my lures that I've bought this winter. Also I've modded the Rage Tail toad to a pretty good looking and sturdy lure, I'll show some pic's soon of what I've done. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Coping with winter isn't so bad. Sure, I have to wear a light jacket when I go bass fishing these days...but every time I set the hook I forget that its a bit chilly outside. A few weeks ago the water temp got all the way down to 49!!! Bass were a bit sluggish but still hitting my c-rig. Last time out the water temp was back up to 58. Quote
swilly78 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Well, ice fishing, which just doesnt compare, thank God for Jim Beam. Planning my spring purchases, and driving my wife insane. cant wait till this darn ice goes away...... Quote

Super User Catt Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 It has been absolutely horrible with temperatures in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s with overcast skies chances of rain at 60% and winds from the south-south west at 10-15 mph. the absolute worst is my wife received 2 of those candle heaters the melt candles so you don't have to light them and she is melting some this morning that are licorice scented so the entire house smells of anise. George Welcome Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Come on you southerners: don't be rubbing it in. Going to have to check my eyelets this morning for ice, what with the starting temps of 54. Brrrrrr, can't wait for 9:00 when it will be 77, or noon at 82. Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 We are answering the question How Are You Coping With Winter? Quote
Strike King Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Anybody in TX, FLA, GA, or wherever its warm need a roomate for about 3 months??? :'( Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 By fishing, what else. It is prime time down here. Highs been in high 70s (79 yesterday), (Cooler this morning) with lows in the high 40s to low 50s. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 I'm not!!!! I've cleaned and lubed my reels, made several tackle purchases, and organized my tackle bags (many times). These are things I don't normally do until February, and they've been done for a month now. We finally have some safe ice, so I'm going to do a little ice fishing, but it's still not the same as getting in the boat and hitting my favorite smallmouth haunts. Falcon Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 To make it short I 'm going to ask you another question: If you lived where a "chilly" winter day is in the high 70 's low 80 's how would you cope with winter ? Stay frosty ( no pun intended ) Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm coping, I guess, but it's tough. Bass fishing is a distant memory. I just hope spring comes soon. A crappy thing about this winter is that, since early December, we've had stretches of warm days with rain that I was sure would melt the ice enough to fish, but then it gets super cold and the ponds freeze up immediately. All of the snow, then rain and warm days, have made the water level in my trout rivers higher than I've ever seen it, which results in poor trout fishing conditions. Last winter at this time I was trout fishing every weekend, but now I just have no desire to trout fish at all. I figure if I can get through 2.5 more months of this crap, it will all be worth it. Nothing like the excitement of early spring fishing up north Quote
zbass Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Pretty much the same as the other northern guys. I'll be making my "New for 09" baits here pretty soon so that will ease some tensions. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Forgot to mention looking at boats i obviously can't afford Quote
WV Bass Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hunting, getting ready for spring bass fishing (cleaning out the tackle boxes, re-spooling my reels, etc.), trout fishing, musky fishing, read fishing books, watch fishing shows, and this year I'm trying my hand at making my own lures. I'm starting with soft plastics and, if successful, plan to move to wire baits and lead molding, then to crankbaits. This may be a multi-winter project. This year we're also planning a trip to northern Canada in early June to do a little pike and walleye fishing as soon as the ice is out. So I'm doing some trip planning and getting together the life's necessities to survive a week in the boondocks of northern Canada. Quote
ZeNoob Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 lets see, respolled my rods, re-organized tackle boxes, got more rods for x-mas and spolled them, got gift cards went to store and got more lures, reorganized tackle box. on warm days went outside to test respolled rods, hit a bunch of geese, and watch every freakin fishin show i can. Oh and playing Warcraft like trying to convince myself its funner then fishing all day long. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted January 6, 2009 Super User Posted January 6, 2009 Looking for early bed fish :-X Quote
