Super User roadwarrior Posted January 6, 2009 Super User Posted January 6, 2009 You need to forward that pic to the Idaho Tourist Commission. 8-) Quote
IDbasser Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Pic is a little on the dark side due to the clouds, the snowing, and wind blowing snow that is hiding the sun. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 6, 2009 Super User Posted January 6, 2009 Fixed cold brutha Actually, the picture is dark because a camera meters (reads) a scene as gray. When it "sees" bright white, it darkens it a bit, and when it "sees" dark it brightens it. Some cameras have a 'EV' adjustment. A +1 setting will brighten up snow pictures nicely. Anyway, looks like fun. Ice took a little while to fully develop up here, due to a week long warm spell with temps in the 50°'s. I noticed a couple of brave guys out yesterday and today with their shanties. Not all is completely frozen, but I bet there is at least 3" where they were fishing. Quote
IDbasser Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks, the pic does look better. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted January 6, 2009 Super User Posted January 6, 2009 Out in the open and no shanty, been there done that only once in my 25 yrs living in Ohio. Given the invitation now I must respectfully decline. No hard feelings eh? Quote

IDbasser Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 I would love to come up north and try fishing like that, I think. Dress warm and it ain't so bad. Do you guys know what dressing warm is? ;D Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I live up here in the frozen North and don't have anything to do with fishing through the ice! Too cold for me...heading South for fun in the sun in a little over a month. Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 7, 2009 Super User Posted January 7, 2009 Dude when y'all gonna learn ice goes in your tea not on the ground Quote
Brute Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I don't know if the bait monkey controls clothing or not, but I do not own enough clothes to keep me warm in that weather. We have a cold front coming through today and the high will only be 73. I just might have to go and find my long pants. Brute Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 7, 2009 Super User Posted January 7, 2009 It really isn't as bad as it looks. If you have a good pair of bibs, Parka, the right socks and boots, you can fish for hours in relative comfort.............If the cursed wind isn't howling. I'm going to introduce Grimlin to icefishing on Monday. Looking forward to meeting him. Anybody else game???? Falcon Quote
fivesixone Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I'd definitely be down if I wasn't so darn broke right now... :'( Quote
Krzkev Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I definately prefer the water in its blue state, compared to the white one. And to have to drill down three feet just to have a chance, not for me. I'll just wear shorts and put a little sun block on, and tough it out. Quote
bocabasser Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 where is the portable shack that i have seen on tv? it has a mini heater, a cooler for your beverages, a portable radio. i have never seen snow,(except for when it snowed here in 1977). i doubt my body could handle that kind of cold. Quote
