newfisherman Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 last time i was home my dad took me over to an old buddy of his who used to be a big bass fisherman. well his garage was like a tackle shop and he proceeded to load me down with stuff. 15 or 20 rattle traps new in boxes, lots of bomber jerkbaits and cranks (they were all old but in pretty good shape) and about a half a garbage bag of plastics. i haven't been through them all yet but i know there are bags and bags of different size zoom lizards and a bunch of other unidentified stuff. but there were ten or twelve bags of unopened creme scoundrels. does anybody still use this bait or has it been discontinued? i suppose they will catch fish. i guess if i catch one they were worth it since i got them free. like to hear any input on this bait. Blue Streak Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I caught plenty of bass on them years ago and I bet they are still a good bait Quote
demonjd22 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I practically started fishing on the creme worms back when i was like 10 years old (im 23 now). They are still one of my favorite finesse worms especially in that pinkish earthworm color. Theyre def not discontinued cuz i've seen em in walmart, and dicks. Used to be at the pond where i started fishing, you could throw one in weightless, and when it disappeared 9 outta 10 times wasnt cuz it sank to the bottom, its cuz it got inhaled! those were the good old days Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 12, 2009 Super User Posted March 12, 2009 Excellent on a shaky head jig or wacky rigged Quote
Super User CWB Posted March 12, 2009 Super User Posted March 12, 2009 If memory serves, they resemble modern finesse worms with a smaller paddle tail. I just picked up a bag of 100 Lindy Swipes, 6" in black on ebay for a buck. I think this was the best produced, most detailed worm ever made. Looks like the predecessor to the GYCB and Kinami Kut Tail. Oldies alot of times are still goodies. Quote
ThomasL Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 They were the originator of the plastic worm and no they are still going strong.I don't know about this finesse stuff being thrown around and this worm,i know if my dad was still alive i can bet the bank he would have a 6" purple glo tail with a eagle claw 4/0 weedless hook and either a 1/16 or 1/8 oz bullet weight on one of his rods! The largest bass he ever caught was on that worm and the second largest on a devils horse white black stripe mascoota. If you don't NEED them send em my way!!! ;D Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 12, 2009 Super User Posted March 12, 2009 Scoundrels are classic baits that still catch fish now like they did years ago. You don 't need to have the newest stuff to catch fish, bass haven 't evolved nor are as sophisticated to the point where they won 't bite classic baits. Wanna know which are my everyday baits ? Used to fish with 6 inch Jelly Worms, now I fish with Trickworms, basically the same design. Culprit 7.5 inch ribbontail worms French Fry worms 5 inch grubs Rapala Original Minnow size 11 Rat-L-Traps Shad Raps Hula Popper Jitterbug Zara Spook ( even though the Sammy is a lot easier to make it walk the dog ) Mepps in-line spinners: Aglia size 4 & Black Fury size 4 Those old Strike King spinnerbaits Slugo 1/2 jig That is what you will see 90% of the time dressing my rods, with those baits I catch fish everywhere most of the time. So, sometimes I wonder ....... if I catch fish with those most of the time then why the heck do I have a big bunch of stuff ?, oh well, the BaitMonkey is powerful and plays mind tricks on those with weak minds. newfisherman Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 thanks for all the input guys. i'll see what i can scare up with these things. catt will be pleased to know that amongst my haul were several pounds of different size Gene Larue Salty Craws, which i understand i can use as jig trailers or t-rigged.
