SuburbanBassaholic301 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 just wondering, has anyone noticed the complete lack of fishing shows anymore. i cant find a fishing show to save my life. besides bill dance who gets more boring and monotonous every show. catching a 6 pounder cast after cast. BassNub Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Well right now is technically hunting season, so more of the hunting shows are on. Like summer when it's fishing season more fishing shows are on and less hunting shows. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 i have noticed the same thing, very few fishing and way more hunting shows. my neighbor was a producer for tv fishing show. tells me sometimes they have a live well full of 6 pounders in the camera boat. when they are hawking a lure they stop the camera and put the fish on the lure and then start the camera again........lol. ever notice on a tournament show the rod tip is kept close to the water and on a tv show the rod is held high so the fish can jump for the camera shot, we never see the ones that slip the hook........haha. Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 The fishing shows usually start in January. Falcon Quote

Super User Dan: Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 I just got Verizon FiOS and I now have the World Fishing Network and the Outdoor Channel. I can't watch the shows I have recorded on the DVR fast enough 8-) Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I have Fios but I haven't subscribed to the fishing channel and the outdoor channel yet. I NEED TO! No other channels have any fishing shows right now. I have to work a lot this time of year and I don't get out to the lake so much, so I at least need to see some fishing on TV. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 I only have versus on Charter. The fishing shows will start again after New Years day. Then we'll be flooded. Quote
SoFl-native Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 i just want 'Day on the lake' back. Almost all the personality hosted fishing shows are a joke anyway. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 Not necessarily fishing shows, or everyone's cup of tea, but Bass Pro Shops has a plethora of how to videos on their site. They might serve to ease the symptoms of withdrawal. Over a hundred fishing videos to watch. Check it out and decide for yourself. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPageC?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&template=video.cfm&cat=Fishing&subcatID=14&option=2&cmid=OLSUBCATEGORY_14_0_ Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 I miss Denny's show. Figures that they cancel the ones everyone seem to like. Very few worth the time it takes to watch. What ever happened to Bass Center too? Quote
sambrochill Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 you could try the FLW on FSN it comes on, on sundays at 11 est time Quote
txbass1 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Love Mark Zona's "World's Greatest Fishing Show"! That guy is just funny, and usually has someone along who can catch some fish. I still have a couple of then DVR'd from August and September. Can't wait for them to start again. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted December 19, 2008 Super User Posted December 19, 2008 In the world of outdoor entertainment there are two seasons. Fishing and Hunting. It is currently Hunting Season. Just wait till February and the fishing shows will come back on. Quote
guitarkid Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Myoutdoortv.com Lunkerville.com Besides Lunkerville is on there and it is pretty good Mike D. and some of the people on there are pretty funny too. Besides LBH is on an episode too. -gk Quote
bass or bass ? Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 The only channel I can get that used to show fishing shows is Outdoor Channel. They used to show lots of great fishing shows ;D, but for @ 9 months now almost all I see are hunting shows. Might as well change their name to The Hunting Channel! > Happy fishing. 8-) ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~ Quote

jack1 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I swear, it doesn't matter what season of the year it ishunting is always on. Six days a week it's deer hunting, elk hunting, even turkey hunting. That one day that they actually show a fishing show, it's soon followed by a hunting show. It's winter, fishing folks up north here are out on the ice fishing and you don't see many shows on that either. Maybe it's just me, but whenever I turn on the cable to check out the outdoor showsmore than 60% of the time its hunting. Spring, summer, fall, and winterit doesn't matter. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 19, 2008 Super User Posted December 19, 2008 I'd like to see regional programming as we fish year round in Florida. Jose Wejebe, The Spanish Fly, is one of the few programs I enjoy. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 19, 2008 Super User Posted December 19, 2008 How many on here remember what I think was the first popular fishing show, "Gadabout Gaddis, the Flying Fisherman"? http://gadaboutgaddis.com/ Quote
jimmieO Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 A day on the lake is a great show...its cool to see the pros sometimes folks struggle to find fish too....just more realistic, you kinda get to be inside their heads and see how they read everything.. Worlds greatest fishing show is downright entertaining....Z is hilarious and so are half the pros that are on that show...Hackney, Swindle.. Bill Dance is nothing but a salesman (i actually bought that crankbait thing with the eel tail, which sucks), but his bloopers on youtube are outstanding. The tournament shows on ESPN on the weekends are pretty good if you haven't already seen them 100 times, especially when they are focusing on the educational stuff. Quote
Simp Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 A line up of fishing shows some of us might be missing is actually on a religious channel. I have Directv and I get this channel called NRB that has a pretty good slate of shows. Off the top of my head some are Fishers of men, Jimmy Houston, Christian Angler, and Linders Fishing edge. The other day Christan Angler or Fishers of men visited Lee Sissons lure factory and they spent some time asking about his career and how he started making lures for Bagley. It was a very neat episode and one crankbait fans would eat up. So as long as you can stomach the Southern Baptist message that they plug every 5 min you can enjoy some good fishing shows. Quote
SLO_ROLL Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Bring on more fishing shows as long as they never get to be like the "hunting" shows that we have now. Shooting corn feed deer out of a "blind" on a private fenced "ranch" Is hook-n-look still on? Quote
SenkoShawn Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 i cant stretch this topic enough.. angers me daily lol. Quote
bassmaster3000 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 i say my favorite fishing show would have to be the bass pros. other than that i like bill dance, bass edge, al linders angling edge, jimmy houston, city limits fishing, and roland martin fishing. 8-) Quote
