Nope.

Do not know of any tagged fish in the waters I fish.

I do know that some fish are tagged and the game commissions ask fishermen to give them the details of the catch and then release the fish.

By doing this, game commissions can track the growth rates and moving patterns of specific species of fish.  :)

I've caught many tagged walleye, and smallmouth, but they've had no monrtary value. Like Sam said, Michigan DNR follows their travel patterns, and growth rates.

Michigan DNR used to send a certificate, and all the information of the fish: where it was tagged, date it was tagged, length, and weight.

I caught a tagged bass worth $200 and a tagged striper with no monetary value. Talking about a bonus!

Please explain the 200.00 fish.

That's cool.

I know that there is a biologist on a Lake here in Georgia that tagged a bunch of fish a couple of years ago. Those who turned in the tags got entered into a drawing for a lifetime license worth $500. I thought that was a good idea.

got a tagged Striper in the Ct River a few years ago.

I thought it was part of a contest and I would get thousands.

However it was just a striper tracking program and I got an ugly hat.

The fish had been caught before in the river and had origionated in North Carolina

Florida tags with rewards for turning in the tags. Different fish have different values up to $50. Last lake this was done on in our area was Blue Cypress lake.

Presently there is a tag program on Rodman.

I caught a 2lb LM on Rayburn that had two tags on it's back in 2002. It had no value other than a call to parks and wildlife to report the when and where for their survey. Disapointing, but glad to let them know.

Asked them why two tags and it was just a precaution in case one was lost. They were located just along the top and at the rear of the dorsal fin.

Also caught a 40 lb redfish at the mouth of the Colorado river back in 1998 that was part of a stocking program down toward Corpus Christi. No money for that one either. they were just tracking the distances traveled.

West Virginia DNR did a program on a few little lakes here. I caught 2 tagged fished .There were flyers hanging around the lake telling the anglers to remove the the tag and mail it in. So i did and recieved 2 of the Ugliest hats ever created with the name of the lake on it. Looks like they were made in the early 60's. Gave them to dad.

Some jerk who fishes at the lake I fish at kept a tagged fish even though the rangers were telling him why it was important to release it and report the measurements and the weight of the fish.

I added a picture of the $200 tagged bass. I mailed the tag (about the size of a dime), information on the bass such as where it was caught, size, weight and etc to Department of Fish and Game and got a card, letter and $200 check.

Here is the picture of the tagged striper.

Someone put on a tournament several years ago, tagged a bunch of fish (all species) and released them back into the lake. I caught a tagged $50 smallmouth that was about 2.5 lbs. I took it to the nearest marina to see what it was worth then dropped it back in my livewell and took it to my club tournament and weighed it in with my other fish.

I didnt win the tag money though because I hadn't actually paid to get in that particular tournament. I did see a guy check in a $500 crappie while I was at the marina. There was one tag fish worth $100,000. Nobody caught it. Rumor has it they put the $100,000 tag on a muskie (which are rarely ever caught from the lake)

Everybody that owned a boat and a fishing rod was on the lake that weekend for the tag tournament. It was unreal.

A couple of summers ago I caught several tagged bass.  One of them had 2 tags.  My dad caught a tagged one last year while he was here visiting, it paid $50. Paid for his fishing license.

About a year and a half ago a friend of mine caught a tagged redfish that was part of some contest and he won a boat, which he didn't need so he sold and got a big payday out of it.  Makes me mad too, he should have given it to me. :D
