Certified Public Angler Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I started bass fishing on July 4th weekend. I have been obsessed ever since finding out the lake across the street is loaded with bass. So approximately 14 weeks and fishing 3-4 days a week, I probably averaged 4-5 fish per trip. 4.5x3.5x14= I'll go with 220. Don't ask me how many of those were 3 lbs or bigger, bc then I can use my fingers to count. Quote
BirdNestBen Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 lets see 85 a trip X 100 days= i guess bout 85,ooo black basses......... heeeeeeee..... no lets see i guess around 350...... i fished pretty hard this year..... Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted October 16, 2008 Super User Posted October 16, 2008 No offense, but this question is kinda ridiculous.I or anyone else would need one of those clicker counters mounted to the side of the boat or carried in our pockets, even then I would only count half of them since I would rather not spend the time to click it before getting another cast out there. I really enjoyed fishin' with you, but I think you should count our combined total, not just the ones you caught! And what about the big one? Are you saving that story? I told you, "We're goin' to need a bigger boat!" : Quote
George Welcome Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Bass Caught by myself somewhere over :1000 Bass Caught in front of a witness :42 1/2- the pickrel got the other half Gotta love it cause it is so often the truth - Nothing like witnesses to change everything. Thanks Mr. M Quote

Pitchinkid Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 id say somewhere between alot and a crap load. i had about 10 trips to the New river this year. i know of 3, 100 fish days and and the rest were over 50 at least, thats mostly smallmouth. I had some real good days on some lakes too for largemouth. lets just say i caught a couple Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 16, 2008 Super User Posted October 16, 2008 I do keep records and have been since the late 1970's. I use a couple of homemade bead counters to keep up with the numbers when fishing and then enter them in log when I get home. A friend of mine does the same and he has caught over 2,300 bass this year so far. Both of us are retired and do our fishing during weekdays while most of you are otherwise occupied. This year I have already surpassed my previous best year for numbers of bass which was 2,537 in 2007. So far this year I have caught 3,036 bass thanks to one new lake that has contributed 1,989 of those. This year I have had 4 - 100+ bass days and 23 days with 50-100 bass. Quote
DADto4 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 More than 10 less than 100.No record sizes this year ;D Quote

Joe Boss Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 About 100 smallmouth bass this year. The bulk of which were caught in the 2 days my dad and I went out on a charter with out favorite guide. 50 bass on the first 4 trip and 30 on the second. Quote
ring fry Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I've been thinking about this since I saw it this morning and really don't know. By late March I had 70 some in Texas and 30 some in Kansas so I would have to guess 250 - 350 since I don't get to fish much in the summer. Quote
basser89 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I'm right around 230 right now. 2 1/2 months to go yet before the year is up. For some reason, I see my smallie count going up, especially in December! I've had more better than average weight bass this year but no good ones (landed) and the one pond that I go to has produced very few for me this year. Last year, it was nothing for a double digit numbers outing (2-3hrs) but this year my best day there has been 5. :-/ Quote
