I've been a member for 15 years or so, still have every issue from every year. Most of the time you'll get a hat, couple of plastic lures, and maybe a DVD or book when you subscribe/renew. I've heard alot of people complain since ESPN took over BASS. But I like the new better than the old. Plus, there is only so much stuff they can write about, with the occasional new technique/equipment that comes out.

I'm satisfied and will continue to be a member.

I have been a member off and on for ten years. The magazine is really the only worthwhile thing you will get, unless you really want the patch and sticker. You also have to be a member to fish their tournaments.

I think 1974 was my first year subscribing, and i missed a few yrs in the 80's, but still buy it now. I think the mag is not as good as it used to be. Every article seems to be just a sound-bite, and i'm left wanting to know more. I think it's worth the $15.

I've been a member for many years. I don't have any complaints, I like the magazine. Alot of guys complain about all the tournament coverage, but I like it.

Member here.  My favorite article is "A Day On The Lake." It's where a pro angler is taken to an unknown body of water.  I find it surprising how often so few fish are caught.

I've been a member since 1990. BASS used to do a lot of conservation and things like that. Not sure if they do anymore. I don't think much of the magazine anymore. They have p.o.ed a lot of people when they cut out the co-angler in the Elite series and now the Marshall thing has just made it worse. Having said all that I still keep my subscription. Mainly because I like to read when I go to bed at night.

I'm a member. The magazine is great. Everyone posts about "what you get" but don't forget you're getting a lot more than you might think. B.A.S.S has done more for this sport than any other organization.

Things like:

  • Promoting catch-and-release.
  • Lobbying the government to maintain and improve lakes specifically for anglers.
  • Protecting angler rights.
  • Tournaments that in the end drive innovating fishing baits and techniques.

Without your membership money none of this is possible.

i joined bass about two months ago.. and while i got my swag and everything- i still have yet recieved an issue of the magazine. i  have now bought two issues off the newsstand since. this is mildly irritating me. i love the magazine (esp. day on the lake) and i support all the conservation and things they do. i feel its a good thing to be part of for 20bucks.

also i ntend to start co-angling soon i hope and want to be able to fish the bass tournements.

kikstand,

If I recall correctly, it took a LONG time to get my first issue when I joined during the fall a couple of years ago. Then it seems I got one every two weeks for a couple of months. It has been more regular every since then. Can't explain why, just don't feel like the Lone Ranger.

Good point, moloch16.  I'm a member.  When I start to think negatively about BASS I just ask myself if bass fishing is better off because of its existence.

Charter life member of BASS. Don't like the changes ESPN made, however still the top bass fishing organization in the country. Being a west coaster and BASS being based in the south, doesn't help me very much directly. Get involved with BASS, join one of their federation groups and you should benefit from being a BASS memebr.

I have enjoyed my 40 years with BASS.

Welcome to the sport.

i am a member and i like the magazine. i would like to see them dedicate one issue to nothing but pictures of the guys on the trail fishing or in the hotel rooms preparing and goofing around. They seem to do alot for kids and im all for that so i will probally continue to be a member as long as they have it.

I'm a member and enjoy the magazine quiet well.  Day On The Lake is probably my favorite article, pretty neat show too.  I also like what's it worth.  BASS has done alot of great things for the sport and continue too today.
