jwo1124 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Could someone breifly explain to me the importance, or lack there of, lunar tables, and following the moon:New moon, full moon, etc., and the corolation between these variables and feeding activity levels in fish, and other animals. Any helpful links to sites or posts would be great. Thanks. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I know its been discussed on here before, I think I actually asked the question a few months back, and basically what I learned from it was that 90% of the guys on here have zero faith in lunar/solunar tables. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 24, 2008 Super User Posted October 24, 2008 lunar tables = looney tunes. Some people swear by them , I 'm not one of those people. Quote
farmpond1 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I have a friend who believes in them. But then again, he doesn't like to get up early so if it says the best bite is at 12 noon on a hot august day, he's all for that. I think he ignores the times when it says to get up at 4 a.m. Personally, I don't buy into it. Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 24, 2008 Super User Posted October 24, 2008 The only time I care about lunar tables is when the spawn is near other than that I don 't care about them the rest of the year. I can 't do squat about the moon phase, it 's a variable of nature, can 't do squat about the wind, it 's a variable of nature, can 't do squat about air temperature, it 's a variable of nature; I can 't change them nor modify them, what 's under my control are my lures, my fishing techniques and my knowledge and it depends on how good I 'm at modifying and adapting them to the conditions what makes me catch fish or not. Super User roadwarrior Posted October 24, 2008 Super User Posted October 24, 2008 I recommend fishing on days ending in a "y" but only during hours designated as AM or PM. 8-) Quote

SuskyDude Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I'm with Raul. Around pre-spawn/spawn time, I'm concerned about the full moon. The rest of the time, I say follow RW's advice. Go whenever you can. Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 25, 2008 Super User Posted October 25, 2008 Lunar tables are something I'm conscious of but not controlled by even during spawn Quote
gatrboy53 Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 to try and answer your ?. lunar phases affects fish behavior and moods.it has nothing to do w/ when you should or shouldnt go fishing.to be aware of the present lunar phase and adjust baits and techniques accordingly will most definitely give you a better chance of out smarting and catching your prey.
