Y'all ever notice that when you fish all day only to catch 2 or 3 you'll be totally wore out at days end but if you fish all day & catch 15-20 your body does hurt at all.

Must be why my back is always killing me when I get home ;D.

It is probably caused by depression, lack of adrenalin, the high levels of lactic acid in the muscles caused by the lack of catching anything.

You also stand most of the day, disappointed that there is little or no action, and you realize that your arms, back, legs and feet hurt.

When catching fish, you forget about your health problems and are happy and excited about catching.

Just like when you played or are playing sports in high school.  During a great game you don't feel the pain or the hits.  You are pumped and your adrenalin level is high and the latic acid in the muscles are not a factor.

Then, after you get home, relax and take it easy, the aches and pains return as your body adjusts back to normal and your mind no longer blocks the health issues.

If you do not catch any fish, your adrenalin levels are not high and the latic acid in your muscles take over and you feel depressed and hurting all over. You become frustrated which magnifies the problem.

Depression is your enemy.  More than the fish.  So do all you can to eliminate the depression, even if you are not catching anything.

This is why every cast is important.  And you have to concentrate on what you are doing and continue trying to figure out your opponent.

This is not painful or depressing. This is the fun part of the sport. This is the challenge. This is why we go fishing. To outsmart an animal with a brain the size of a marble.

Anybody can catch a fish if you are on the fish. The secret is knowing how to locate the bass and what to throw to entice them to strike your bait.

So don't get depressed. Each outing is a study in what to do and not to do which will make you a better fisherman.

Write down your adventure in detail and keep your records so you will know how to approach the same body of water or weather conditions in the future.  ;)

You mean it's possible to catch 15-20 in one day?

Wow if I feel really good after catching 4-5 just imagine how much better I would feel after 15-20! ;D  No more Doctors for me, just fishing, the new cure all for what ever ails you.lol

Sometimes its the oposite, lol.

I was on a very good swimbait bite this spring. At least 34lbs for 5, every trip, for over a month and a half. My ribs were black and blue from setting the hook, and my hands were literally bleeding all over from bass hand. Wrists were all screwed up from throwing and retrieving big baits with a passion all day.

Kind of reminded me of those stories of marines getting grazed by a bullet, and in the heat of battle, not even realizing it. At the end of all that though, i sure realized it, lol.

But yeah, normally speaking, my body is much more unhappy when it didnt set the hook much :)

I was wondering that too   :-[    LOL

I hear ya Catt. Standing on the bow all day, not catching anything....really start to feel it in your back toward the end of the day.

Well, could we at least get a picture of the swimbait? Most on this site have never seen a 30lb sack weighed in, muchless catch one. That is stout catching.

i guess for me, standing there, concentrating all day is more work than me moving around having fun and not noticing how fast time passes by.

i could probably jog for 15 minutes, but have the hardest time in the work to just stand there and stare at a wall.

I used 4 different baits during that bite.

Since this one is discontinued and prohibitively expensive to most, thats the one I'll show, lol.

:o  Haha....I would kill for that pain...They don't grow that way in KY...at least where I fish

But yeah, before I had back surgery I would be in so much pain when I went fishing that I couldn't stand but when on was buttoned, up to my feet I went and remained so for around 10-15...then back to the ground it was

That's was a epic bite 4bizz.  That was by far my most productive bass fishing trip of the year.  I threw a 8" hudd all day on a rod that was undersized to be throwing that bait.  Caught 12 fish all weighing over 4, including a solo 36# sack, plus 4 broken pb's.  For those of you that catch bigger fish you know  that bigger fish=bigger teeth... I remember catching a 6#er and noticed blood on her, took a quick pic and let her go.  then noticed the blood was dripping from my hand, not the fish.  I had cut the web in between my thumb and index finger from the fish teeth.  By the end of the day I had "Huddleston Palm".   My right hand felt like heavy grit sand paper.  What and epic day though.  It had felt like I just went rounds with Kimbo Slice  :-/ .  Even the sides of my ribs were nothing but a rash and bleeding from setting the hook so many times.  Very gnarly but I'd rather be hurt from catching then not!!!
