SteveF Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Curious if anyone has fished with the Jackall Cover Craw? How much does it way and can you fish it weightless and still get a fairly decent speed on the sink rate? For example, how would you rate the fall rate to a senko (faster?)? Thanks. Quote
SteveF Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 I already read that review, and it answers none of my questions. Quote
John G. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 The Cover Craw is really sweet! If you rig it weightless and reverse on the hook it actually falls away from you after you cast, much like the old flying lure used to but in an actual bait fish like. You can cast under logs, floating docks, ETC now because of this bait. Also, I like using the 3 inch for jig trailers or fishing it on a small jighead or texas rigged. Look at Tackle Warehouse for more information, there is a video on youtube that shows its falling action as well. Quote
Crappiebasser Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Sorry to hijack your thread but I was wondering if these could be skipped on a slider head like a tube. I love skipping piers in the summer and these look like they would work. Quote
John G. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Yep they can be. If you skip them weightless then it still slides away from you though and skips pretty good. If you put them on any type of head then you want to rig it as you normally would and not the opposite way, head towards tail. Quote
SteveF Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Anyone know the weight or can describe how fast it falls in reference to say a senko? I'm looking for a slow fall but want to be able to get to the bottom without waiting an extreme amount of time? Thanks. Quote
John G. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I think you are talking about the flick shake, not the cover craw. The flick shake is a worm, cover craw , well a craw lol Both are totally different from each other and would be fished in different situations. The cover craw can be fished on a jig to get it to the bottom of any kind or texas rigged. On the other hand the Flick Shake is for wacky rigging and works best on the heads they sell for them, made of tungsten weight which falls straighter and faster than lead, so go with the 1/8 oz ones and it will get down relatively quickly. Honestly, I catch a lot fewer fish without using the heads designed for them. Hope this helps. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted March 10, 2009 Super User Posted March 10, 2009 Anyone know the weight or can describe how fast it falls in reference to say a senko? Steve, use the Fat Ika, it has a much faster fall rate (similar to a Senko) then the cover craw. Quote
SteveF Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 John G. I'm aware of both the Cover Craw and the Flick Shake, and I am only referencing the Senko as a comparison in terms of sink rates. T Rig So the Cover Craw falls very slow, is that what you are saying? As I would rate the Fat Ika as having a fall ever so slightly faster than a Senko, would you agree? Thanks. Steve Quote

John G. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 K gotcha now. The cover craw thrown weightless is going to fall faster than your senko. The end of the lure is weighted out of the package so naturally the 4 inch cover craw falls faster than the 3 inch. I found a video link so you can actually see it falling. I have never seen that screw in hook they say is available for it so it must be in Japan right now. The guys are a hoot who make these videos in Japan, I have watched a few of them now. Quote
