Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 1, 2009 Super User Posted March 1, 2009 Saving my money for my annual Cabelas trip next weekend. Does Cabelas host a similar event with a big sale? Spring Great Outdoors Days biggest show and sale of the year. It starts March 3rd. WWW.CABELAS.COM Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 2, 2009 Super User Posted March 2, 2009 I went to the BPS in St. Charles on Saturday morning. I wanted to get more jigs, and maybe some different trailers. I ended up only buying new fishing license for 2009. The place was a madhouse. I am planning on going back after work one day this week. Quote
TheRushFactor Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I went to BPS Friday night in Baltimore, and I'm kind of low on money at the moment, but I managed to get a pack of Berkley 7" power worms(blue fleck), a Spro JR. frog(just started to get into froggin), a black/blue jig, and a pack of chigger craws(3"). Btw, it was my first time in a BPS, and I was blown away. I must have spent 4 hours in there with my roommate walking down every aisle. I gotta go back sometime this march before fishing really heats up. Quote
Blue Streak Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I have never been to a BPS store, I guess the closest one is Cincinnatti which is three hours away.I am only eleven miles away from the Wheeling Cabela's though and it has a good selection of fishing tackle. Their sale starts March 5th. Actually that place is too darn close I spend all of my beer money there. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Went to the Rossford (toledo), OHIO store yesterday and got to see Hank Parker and KVD. Â That place was crazy-busy. Â The Pros started at 12, so when we showed up at 11:30 we had to circle the parking lot of 15 minutes to catch a parking spot. Â It was great to see KVD and Hank up there giving tips. Â That place was a little too crowded for me, you could barely walk down the aisles. Â I managed to get out having spent just over $100, stocked up on eakins jigs, paca craws, rage lizards, and a couple xr50s. Â Quote

Super User Muddy Posted March 2, 2009 Super User Posted March 2, 2009 Well I got some jig heads, quite a few actually. I can now say after being at the Harrisburg store 3 times, THIS STORE IS A DUMP! Especially compared to the Cabelas in Hamburg. The staff at the reel counter were not that well informed, ABOUT BPS REELS, they would not honor a catalog price for another customer i saw arguing with them and the store was poorly stocked  The catalog does offer a good selection of some nice products, particularly their house branded reels but I am more pleased with Cabelas, by far! Captain Chaos II Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Rained all weekend but did get there on Saturday. Â Too bad cuz I like to take the kids fishing out front. Got Paca craws+chunks. Â Rage Lizard. Â Few finesse jigs+swimming jigs. Â Few shakey head jig heads. Â + a kids tent for my kids. Â They were all out of the TT and Spro little swimbaits also were out of the sebile swimmers. I behaved for the most part. Â Been stocking up all winter so my tacklebox is overflowing at this point. Can't wait for a warming period so I can start tearing up my new baits. Â I need some room. Quote
andamtoft Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I went saturday to the auburn ny store and picked up: 2 bass pro woo daves extreme rods for 70 instead of 100 plano water proof storage box 25% off strike king spinner bait rage tail trailers. I think im gonna go back and take advantage of their buy 2 things of flouro get one free Quote
kickbasskid Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 You are all so lucky. I couldn't get a ride down so I have to order off the internet :D I got a St. Croiz 7' MH Mojo Bass rod, 5 Lunker Lure rattleback jigs in green pumpkin and a rapala mini 50lb. electrical scale. Quote

I may be wrong, but I doubt the guys working the reel counter have the authority to price match. That customer would be far better off going to the customer service desk and asking them to take care of it. I've never had them refuse to match their catalog or online prices. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted March 2, 2009 Super User Posted March 2, 2009 I watched a guy get a price match on a Daiwa reel advertised locally for 12 or 13 bucks  less than BPS, by the manger that was the same one who gave the guy trying to get them to match a price for one of their own products,  from their online division a hard time. I was trying to find out service information and had to wait on the same line, so I was watching what went on. Quote

Tpayneful Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I have been to many Bass Pro shops including the headquarters in Missouri and the Richmond store is quite good. Â The store is twice the size of the one in Hampton Roads and well stocked. Â They didn't have an Extreme 7' MH rod on the floor but they had one in back and immediately retrieved it for me. Â I also purchased: Johnny Morris Signature Series Baitcaster Tru-Tungsten Baby Bass 4" swim bait Senkos Gamakatzu hooks Horny Toads Tru-Tungsten bullet weights Camo 15lb braid Livewell screen Then I went to Greentops and bought Trickworms Roboworms Matt Lures Baby Bass The wife freaked out when she saw the receipts! But she did tell me to buy myself a birthday present before I left!!!! Â I am doing my part to stimulate the economy! Quote

The_Natural Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I haven't been to the Classic yet; the only thing I need is more Beaver Bugs. The BPS Beaver Bug is lumped in with all the other generic beaver imitations, but it is totally different. It's a cross between a beaver and a tube; a gliding tube if you will. This thing dominates...especially in Roadkill. It's one of those baits that works so well you want to send some to everyone on the board just so they know what you are talking about. The new Tube Dart has my attention as well, and I will be buying a few packs of them as well. The Tube Dart is basically a Vertical Lures Tube-X with twice the tenticles. Anyway....Cabelas is competing with their own sale, but it is their HUGE clearance area that emptied my pockets. I bought like 60 pointers and countless Spro Aruku Shads. Quote

If you know me from the forum, you know I am the bargain hunter extrordinaire. Â Shopping constantly is the key to great deals. I was going to buy a new rod, but the opportunity to buy a bunch of pointers at 70% off changed that. I'll probably sell them on here or ebay them. Even the Scents like Bang and Kick-N-Bass....we're talking $1-$1.50 each. When you find them at that price you buy ALL of them. Quote

The_Natural Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 My pic of the pointers I scored is neat and all, but I would seriously heed my advice and buy some beaver bugs. Â I'm tellin' ya...it's like Roadwarrior talking about the fat Ika (granted I'm sending him some beaver bugs, so we'll see how they compare). Â I use Reaction Innovations Beavers as well, but that Roadkill Beaver Bug dominates. Quote

What section of baits does your BPS have them in? The Memphis BPS has them in the same section as the small soft swimbaits. Last weekend I was in Columbia, MO and they "didn't carry" Hornets nor had anyone ever heard of them. I found them on a stand-up display, randomly placed on the row with soft plastics. They only had 3/8 oz so I bought them all. Now they really "don't carry" Swarming Hornets! : Quote
Blue Streak Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Thanks for the heads up on the Beaver Bug Natural. I do very well with the Sweet Beaver and just about any soft bait in the roadkill camo color. Guess I better get an order off to BPS. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 3, 2009 Super User Posted March 3, 2009 Two new ram mounts for my electronics. They were not on sale though. Quote
