Mobydick Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 what do you do? Do you stick with the lures you caught fish on, or do you keep trying new things? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted August 4, 2008 Super User Posted August 4, 2008 Cover water Fish your strengths Map study Map Study Oh, and did I say map study? Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I tie on a confidence bait and I keep the boat moving. Cover as much water as possible. When you get a bass pay attention to where he came from, how deep he was, how he was hooked, etc. then try to replicate those conditions elsewhere on the lake. Oh btw I sent you a PM. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted August 4, 2008 Super User Posted August 4, 2008 I sit down and eat a sandwich and gather my thoughts. If I have a map of the lake I pull it out and use it to help me change things up. Because it's usually later in the day I will look deeper than I've been fishing and throw a search bait. Quote
Bass XL Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I sit down and eat a sandwich and gather my thoughts. I do the same thing. Sometimes you just have to take a break and think. Usually I will fish my strengths and cover as much water possible. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 4, 2008 Super User Posted August 4, 2008 If you scretched out a few fish, that is your pattern, until you someone tells you what a wide open day they just had. There is always more than one pattern going on, somedays it's just a tough day on the water. If you are not getting bit, then rethink what you are doing and try something different until you determine what is going on, if anything. You can either force feed the bass what you want them to eat, or try to locate the bass and feed them what they are looking for. The first thing is; find the prey, the bass will be close by. NewScreenNameAdvised Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 If this happens to me a couple trips in a row....I come back to bassresource and read the seasonl articles ont eh homepage. Seomtimes I pick up on something there that works for me the next time I go out. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted August 4, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted August 4, 2008 Try an new spot and throw reaction baits. I find more NEW spots on the tough days. Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 4, 2008 Super User Posted August 4, 2008 Location & timing If you're on prime structure then the timing is wrong, if you're not on prime structure then the timing doesn't matter cause you can't catch what aint there. On any particular day I'll have as many as dozen places in mind that fit seasonal conditions, weather conditions, and so forth. Some days it will take only three or four, while some days it takes the whole dozen plus. On any given day you can try to locate active bass or you can try to force feed non-active bass. Consistently catching bass is a process of elimination and duplication. Eliminate patterns and structures that are non-productive and duplicate structures and patterns that are productive. Some days it's diamonds, some days it's stones and some days you're better off never leaving home. Quote
