That would have to be my great uncle. I was his little fishing buddy and he would always drop by the house on a Saturday or Sunday morning and take me fishing with him pretty much every weekend from Spring to Fall.

I am however happy that I did not pickup any of his equipment care techniques. He normally carried 8 or 10 rod and reels all wadded up into one big mess. Most of the rods had a permanent arch in them from where he would clip the hook on the bottom eye and reel in too much line. And there was usually one or two broken rod tips from a lost battle with the truck lid. The reels weren't in much better shape. He liked closed faced reels and when they wouldn't work properly he would just shove them in the water and jiggle them around a bit and magically they would work for a while. I was usually comical to share a boat with him, but he loved to fish and it rubbed off on me.

As far as influence, in the late seventies I ran across a book titled: "There he is!": Bill Dance's book on the art of plastic worm fishing. I bet I read that book 50 times. I'm still pretty old school about my worms, a lot of the basics I learned in that book, so I guess you could say Bill Dance has been one of my biggest influences.

I got away from bass fishing for many years and just started back recently. Of the current pros, KVD is the man. I learn something new from him every time I see him on the fishing shows.

I watch Bass Pros on VS.  and usually learn from Timmy Horton if he's on.  He's my favorite pro and I think he does a good job of explaining things on this show.

Fluke and LBH's videos are pretty informative too. :)

Alot of different guys pointed me in the right direction but, it is the fish that talk to me the most.

Bill Quattrucci (local B&T owner)

He has taught me a TON about jigs, and swimbaits. Not to mention the jigs he makes are amazing, and that has helped me catch a lot of fish, i think. My dad has always helped me too. Local people on different websites have helped me so much too. Its amazing how much you can actually learn about fishing.  ;D

Bassresource has influenced the way I fish more than anything or anyone else.

Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge...

...and helping to make me broke and happy ;D

I would have to say that my dad got me into fishing when I was really young and I'm glad he did!

Up until a few years ago I hadn't really fished much. But now i fish almost every day I have off and I now have my own boat and watch as many instructional videos as possible. I am always willing to learn from anyone.

With-in the last couple of months since I have been a member here I have learned more about bass fishing then I had ever dreamed. Now I know what to throw in most situations and I am usually successful IMO. Maybe not as successful as other anglers but I give it hell everytime I am fishing.

I have to thank this site for teaching me what I know now.

And thank you to everyone who has ever helped me out on this site. Like I always say this site is the best on the net!!!! ;)

i defitnatley would have to say my father. he is the one that got me hooked on fishing. the memories i have from when i was younger are almost all of fishing. everything from carp fishing and eating half his doughball or climbing a tree the next morning after i put his arbogast jitterbug 30 feet up a tree the night before. lol i think half of my butt whoopins came from using his fishing poles without asking. though i thought it was quit unfair at the time, seems very rational to me now.but anyways yeh id say my dad. THANKS DAD

I really taught myself to fish. My dad fishes but he isn't into it as much as I am. I learned mostly from books, magazines, and trial and error.  I really started learning the most when I joined a club and started fishing tournaments. That combined with bassresource has helped me immensely.

sad to say it would have to be Hank Parker and Bill Dance

I used to watch these guys the most growing up

However most of the fishing that i have done is trial and error since my dad did not fish

My father (rip) got me into fishing although he wasn't into it much. (He thought the fishing at the bars was a better investment. lol )

We would go on vacation and there was a small lake with tons of bluegill. I would be there at the crack of dawn and catch buckets of them.

As I got older, I would fish off the pier or go to a little lake close to home every once in a while but nothing to brag about.

I haven't fished much until lately. I stumbled across an old bass boat late last year and got it cheap with the idea of selling it and making a few bucks. Bass fishing was the last thing on my mind. Took the boat out a couple of times to test it, caught a few fish and I've been "hooked" ever since. I didn't know the first thing about bass fishing so I found this place. BR. I've learned virtually everything I know from this forum and the awesome people associated with it.

So to answer your question, BR and all you folks have influenced both me and my daughter the most.

Gotta go. Woohoo.... Fish on!!!!!!!! ;)
