jvox Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 The last few days, I've been missing hits!! Idk what it is. Idk if the fish just arent hitting my lures hard enough, or the fish are just too small?? I havent changed my setup or anything. It just seems kinda weird. Maybe the fish just arent as active this week?? Anyone else having a problem lately?? :'( Quote

Often it's a rat-a-tat-tat type of byte, or a fast little tap...Usually they just peck at the worm by the tail and if I try to set the hook, the bait will come flying back at me. If they're actually bass short striking a fast moving bait, try following up immediately to the same spot with a senko, or other weightless soft plastic. Quote

Yeah I definitely have been gettin the bluegill hits, thats for sure, but they feel bigger but real short..Idk..maybe I've just been knockin back a few too many brews and havent been able to react haha. But I have heard to follow up with a senko, but I just havent gotten into fishing them because I'm so used to fishing powerworms..I'm gonna pick up some senkos. Quote

I heard somewhere that Largemouth will actually head below baitfish feeding and clean up any bits falling.... Don't know if it's true....but I will continue to follow up small taps with a plastic Quote

Seabolt Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I feel your pain. They are barely loading the rod and hard hits are few and far between. It's pretty sad when the rock bass ae hitting harder then the smallies. It's speeding up my fishing too. I have to keep avery tight line to feel the tension and it's dragging the line through the strike zone too fast. Quote
