For those of you that have followed my threads, I just want to say thanks for all the help. I've taken a few hits and had a little bit of bad luck but with some help from a lot of very special folks from this forum, my daughter and I are back on the water. Zel,Popeye, grimlin, pond hopper, Nitroman, and so many others to thank. I feel like one of those movie stars that can't thank enough people when they win a big award. lol. I just can't name them all.

A special thanks to fishstick and frogtog. I've never met these guys but their generosity and kindness is truly inspiring.

Without fishstick's help, I wouldn't be on the water probably until next year. He went way beyond just being kind and generous. The trouble and expense he endured was way more than he should have and I want to say thanks to him for all his help. It worked out exceptionally well.

As far as frogtog is concerned, all I can say is WOW.  I wasn't expecting that. I probably shouldn't say what he did but I can tell you it was unbelievable how thoughtful and generous he was to not just me, but to my daughter. She is putting everything to good use.

The offers of help came rolling in and I hope I didn't insult anybody by not accepting most of their offers. If anyone of you fine people are ever on the central Oregon coast, just send me a PM and you've got a fishing trip on any one of the many lakes in the area. I don't have a fancy boat (an older trophy bass boat) but it's yours to use and it does a great job.

I took my daughter fishing for the first time in a week and we really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't get anything on the boat but spending the day with my daughter was great fun. We fished for a few hours, the weather was good and we went out to a nice dinner later in the day. It was all good.

I do have a question. We were fishing with 4 inch senko's T-rigged with a pegged bullet weight. We got some bites but were unable to hookup. Several times we lost the worm but not the hook. I'm wondering if we were getting bit on the end of the worm and if I'm trying to set the hook before it's fully in the fish's mouth???

I feel a tap, tap, jerk the rod up and only get the hook back with no worm. I'm mostly throwing into fallen timber in about 3 to 8 feet of water.

Any suggestions????

that tap tap might be small fish biting your worm and not the hook, so when you snap your rod back, they rip the worm off the hook.

try using parasite clips (www.parasiteweight.com) and try waiting a few extra seconds while the fish is tapping on your worm before you set the hook.

Bass Chump,

So glad to hear that you're back out on the water!!!!!

As for advice on the bites:

Go buy some super glue... Once you hook the lure at the top and bring it up to the top of the hook stick the tude of glue into the lure where you put the hook and fill the hole with glue.

This will help the worm stick to the hook so you  do not lose the lure as often.

When you feel a bite sometimes just a tap tap could be a very small fish that can only get the tail in it's mouth, therefore when you jerk up on the rod you never catch the fish.

My advice to you would be to tell you to either down size the bait or give the fish more time to take the bait. Patience is the key here. I have my troubles getting bites, but when you set the hook if it is a regular hook reel the line tight as possible and then pull straight up as fast and hard as possible. You will either catch him or rip it out of his mouth.

If you are using a bait with treble hooks when you set the hook pull the rod sideways.

I hope you will have some pics up on here soon buddy!!!! ;) ;) ;)

Here in the mid-south we have bream (great eating fish ) that will fool you into a hookset. Will pull parts off most creature baits. If Senkos are as soft as a lot of members have said, could be some kind of pan fish just biting the tail...

Back on the water. What a great thing to be able to say. WOOHOO!!!

My daughter is going to my brothers and sister in laws house for a visit for a month during the summer. She left just today. They live in sunny southern California in Huntington Beach so she gets to be "KEWL" for a while. lol.

They always treat her to a lot of fun stuff. Disneyland, Knotts, Magic mountain, surfing, fishing, and much more. She really gets spoiled but she deserves it. She is a great person.

Unfortunately my fishing buddy won't be around for a few weeks so I'm on my own although I enjoy being on the lake anytime. Had a huge elk swim within a few feet of the boat once. He didn't much care that I was there but it was a sight to see for sure.

Anyway, yes, I'm sure I'll be posting a few pictures very soon. Hey, at least I'm getting bites. I wasn't even getting bites until lately so I'm pretty happy about that. lol. At least it makes a guy anxious. I know they are out there. Saw a guy pull out a 5 pounder. If there is one, there has to be more wouldn't there???

I'm going to plan a little camping trip in the next week or two to a lake not far from here and it's supposed to be a really good bass lake. Anybody ever heard of or fished Tenmile lake on the central Oregon coast????? If so, any words of advice????

Great Post BassChump! It is great to see your Spirit changed from where you were previously :) It shows just what bassresource.com can do. It has been a blessing for me these past few weeks as I am unable to work, drive, and worst of all fish. But it has been this forum that is full of good people of encouragement, wisdom, and somewhat humerous at time that keep me from going crazy on these long uneventful days :) Enjoy your camping trip and I pray you catch you a five pounder!
