MillerTime Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Anybody else do anything fishing related that makes people think your a few fries short of a happy meal? I'm not talking about the "normal" stuff like religiously organizing and checking your gear, I'm talking downright loony. For example I talk to my jigs when I rig them up. I usually say if I was a fish I'd eat you or something along those lines. Anyone else care to fess up? ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User islandbass Posted June 22, 2008 Super User Posted June 22, 2008 You just about got me covered! ;D When I catch a dink, I look it straight in the eyes and tell it to tell her bigger siblings to bite my line with a pretty please, beggin' on my knees. -A Dinkmaster Quote
Bass Smacker Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Here fishy fishy fishy in a nice voise COME BITE MY F#@! Hook In a evil voise Quote
Jake P Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I usually just tell the bait how good it looks and just to build its self esteem up i will say "if i were a fish i would eat you right now". Thats when im rigging them up, i don't go to my tackle boxes and pick a lure to talk to, im not crazy. Quote
bassfanatick Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 "Here fishy fishy, eat up this is good for you ;D" as I'm reeling in. Quote
Evan Pease Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I was fooling with a KingKong on shore and this couple was saying," Is he really fishing with that?" and stuff like that. It was funny. Quote
guitarkid Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 You think, if my yard was flooded I would throw this there and that up there. -searoach Quote
sdcoll Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Here fishy fishy fishy in a nice voise COME BITE MY F#@! Hook In a evil voise thats messed up cause i say the same thing and have been for yrs....lol Quote
paangler3117 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 i say "hit it" all the time.... drives my fishing buddies nuts! also anytime the water temp changes even a tenth of a degree i feel the need to anounce it! tight lines--Jim Quote
weknowhowtolive Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I tend to say "Ooo that was a nice cast" or "Oh that place looks fishy" even when I'm by myself. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 When I make a great cast (shorefisherman here) say under some overhanging trees, down a treeline right next to a downed tree, I'll imitate a line from the Disney movie 'The Goofy Movie'........'The perfect cast!' in Goofy's voice. Pretty dang weird if you ask me. Quote
Tom Bass Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Howdy I find interesting that I am not the only guy out there chanting "Here fishy fishy fishy" while I'm fishing. 8-) I always talk to my fish when I am unhooking them. I reassure them and praise them. My fishing partners think I'm a little nutty but that's okay...Who isn't "Nuts"that is a Bass fisherman? ;D Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted June 23, 2008 Super User Posted June 23, 2008 I go fishing. Isn't that eccentric enough????LOL Falcon Quote
Handy Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 When I catch one I will say "thanks buddy". I mainly do this after going a long while without a bite. Or the ussual "I got one". Paul Quote
ventureboat Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 When my lure hits the water, I say out loud several times a day, "somethin eat that thing". Whether by myself or with a partner. And I kiss everything big enough to go in the livewell and accompany me to the weigh in Quote
RLinNH Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 When I catch one I will say "thanks buddy". I mainly do this after going a long while without a bite. Or the ussual "I got one". Paul I do the "Thanks Buddy" thing also. Funny thing though, both of my most recent "Off's", in which I lost a GOOD fish as it was jusmping out of the water, hence spitting the Bait out of it's mouth, were next to another boat. On both occasions, I hit my knees and crouched in silence for a good 30 seconds. My last Off, I was crouched so long in disbelief and disgust, that they guy in a boat about 50 yards from me asked me if I was alright. :'( I replied to him that I was, then he said, "That's cool. Cause if I lost that Fish, I'd be in Tears." Quote
Ellesar Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I have a song and dance that I do at the start of every fishing trip. Once I get to my initial fishing spot I do this little dance where I sort of slowly dance in place and move around in a circle while chanting "bring the fish! bring the fish!". Obviously I can't dance around too much in the boat. If the day turns out really slow, I've been known to perform this ancient rite again in an attempt to placate the fishing gods and have them bestow upon me great fishing success. Quote
surfer Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 You mean the normal stuff like spend X amount on a boat designed for fishing gear and ease of fishing then spend X on gear, then spend X time getting to the lake and throwing lures, then spending 30 seconds excitedly reeling in a fish, just to admire it for another 30 seconds an throw it back with only a memory to go home with. No, nothing abnormally eccentric. Quote
bassbanger Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 ITs funny how many people say the if i were a fish id eat it. When i dont get a bite for a bit i look at my wife and say "whats wrong with this thing if i were a fish id eat it!" lmao Quote
Back2fishing Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 When fishing with my wife , after I cast I say that's were the gators are. Kevin Quote

Super User Jeff H Posted June 25, 2008 Super User Posted June 25, 2008 Because I fish deep most of the time, my eyes are my flasher and I've become quite good at "mental imaging". When I'm fishing I sometimes describe my "mental images" and usually the guy in the back thinks I'm nuts jabbering away. I probably am because I've done this when alone too, which means I'm talking to myself. My 2 boys have gotten used to it though. Quote
iamjoe2 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 your not crazy if you talk to yourself.... your only crazy if you talk back. Quote
