DewittBassmaster Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I babysit a 10 year old kid, he lives on a lake and never really fished that often. I went fishing with him one day and since then thats all he wants to do is fish. I think it is important to get the younger kids involved with something other than video games. He caught his first 2 bass yesterday. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted June 18, 2008 Super User Posted June 18, 2008 Bravo! Fishing is one of the last pure things left in this world. He'll be hooked for life (pun intended) Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted June 19, 2008 Super User Posted June 19, 2008 Great job!! I agree with hookemdown. More kids need a hobby like fishing instead of alot of the other crap they can get into. Keep up the good mentoring. Quote
weknowhowtolive Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 There are tons of programs to get kids involved in fishing, the problem is most of them cost more money than parents can afford. Theres an article in the newest Bassmaster about sponsoring kids, its pretty pricey but i guess if you have an extra 3-600 bucks laying around its for a good cause. Quote
simplejoe Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 great job now we need more people to think like you. Quote
Joe Boss Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I tip my fishing cap to you sir. I am teaching my son to fish and I hope to be around long enough to show his child how to fish also. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted June 19, 2008 Super User Posted June 19, 2008 Outstanding. Keep up the good work. Quote

Super User Alpster Posted June 20, 2008 Super User Posted June 20, 2008 Awesome! No better way to spend your time. Good job! Ronnie Quote
Fishin247365 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 The easiest way to spread the sport is just what you did and take someone "new" out with you. Be it young or old! I took my son and 3 of his buddies (9 year olds, I know I'm brave!) out last year, and all three of his friends caught their first ever bass. Two of them, it was their first ever fish! Everytime I see them they want to go! Doing whatevever we can to get a first timer on some fish is key. Especially with youngsters, you gotta get a fish on the end of their line. You all know,..... that's all it takes to create another one of "us"!! Quote
