Super User Gatorbassman Posted June 15, 2008 Super User Posted June 15, 2008 Welcome to the forums. Here are several articles on the subject. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/seasonal.html#summer Quote
rapalaman Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I am new my self. I asked the same question and was told to use a c-rig. It worked for me catching 5 bass in 2 days. Good luck and welcome. Quote
rondef Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 to the forum. Try throwing some senkos, they always produce for me. The swim senkos work good with a bullet screw-in weight. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted June 15, 2008 Super User Posted June 15, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try deep diving cranks and rat-l-ltraps Quote
skillet Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 WELCOME to the forums!!! I think any "secrets" we have aren't secret. They're in the tips and articles here on the site ... As Ever, skillet Quote
Fishin247365 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I would recommend trying just a couple different baits and/or techniques at first. Carolina rig and a spinner bait. Keep it simple on bait colors. Light for clearer water and dark for muddy or stained water. When fishing plastics of any type and you are not catching anything, slow down, then slow down some more. Cast your spinnerbait or plastic rig as close to the cover as you can. Good luck and welcome to bass fishing! Just be prepared for "impulse" purchases, common referred as "bait monkey attacks"!! They can be vicious!! :)Also check this forum routinely. There is more information here that you can imagine, and members are more than eager and happy to answer questions (to the best of their knowledge anyway). ;D Quote
CJ Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Read the articles. Then you can break down your questions. Welcome to Bass Resource! You'll learn a lot of much needed info here! You'll be catchin' up in no time at all! Chris BTW, where's London and what lake you fishing? Quote

JShrock07 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Welcome to the Forums!!! Like everyone else said you need to try senkos!!! I swear by them!!! Any type of finesse worms are great too!! Try jerkbait if the water is clear. Try slow rolling a spinnerbait, let it sink down about 15' and then slowly roll it in ever now and then jerk it up to try to get a reaction from the bass. Try a deep diving crankbait that goes from 10-15', try a rat-l-trap use that the same way I told you to use a spinnerbait. No matter what you do don't give up!!! Keep asking quetions!!!! This is the best fishing website I have ever came across and it has tuaght me alot!!! Good Luck To You!!!!! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 16, 2008 Super User Posted June 16, 2008 Welcome aboard! The best approach, as has already been pointed out, is to start in the BassResource.com Library ("Fishing Articles") at the tops of the page. Here is another piece that might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180501296/10 Good luck! 8-) Quote

Sharkbite Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I agree with the plastics. Its a great and fun way to learn. Up here I use T rigged and Wacky b/c the bottoms are really rocky and I get hung up all the time. I use all *** and They a very effective for us around here. Good Luck and Welcome Quote

TBAG Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 welcome from a fellow Kentuckian! How's Lake Linville been treating you? I've always wanted to try it. I'm from Lexington and have been mainly fishing Cedar Creek, the secret there this time of year are soft plastics, T-rigged, or a spinnerbait in the early morning. Quote
Newman12Fan Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I am also a "new again". I used to fish for bass a lot when I was younger, but then moved to south florida and did more saltwater fishing. I now live near Indianapolis and fish a small 14 acre retention pond in my neighborhood. It is also not very deep, and there are no trees or obvious cover. I started with a shad color spinner, and I would catch 8 to 10 small bass each night after work. I go out for an hour or 2 each night. I then moved to a t-rig, and after learning how to feel or see a bite and set the hook, my bass moved up to the 2 pound range. Last week I started trying a black jig with uncle johnson pig. I am not patient enough for the t-rig. I can retereive a little better and faster with the jig and pig. In the last 5 days I have landed a 6.5 pounder, a 4.5 pounder and a number over 3 pounds. I have lost 2 fish over 5 pounds. Once my line broke. It was probably 5 year old line (I know go a head and yell at me know). I got new line and on the first cast hooked a monster. I fought it all the way in and was about 1 or 2 feet from the shore and my knot came untied. I don't know how, but it did. Might have been because I went to 10 pound test and did not get it tight enough before fishing. Anyway I dropped my pole and jumped in after him. Very comical! I touched it, but that woke him up and he swam away. I hope to catch him tonight to get a nice picture, and my jig back. Quote

Justin Mahaney Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 When I dont know whats going on or where the fish are at a certain location its usually best to throw a crank or a spinner bait, something that covers a lot of water. This time of year the fish will likely be schooling, so where you catch one chances are you will catch more. Quote
fisherwoman Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 i hope every one enjoys this servey please check the best color in your area. thanks fisherwoman Quote
