To all...

I went out last night fishin for smallies for about an hour, biggest was about 3 lbs, no pics :(. I caught 6 fish. Only missed one fish which was a dink. I paid specific attention to setting the hook harder and I didn't lose one fish after the hook was set. I also paid attention to once I had a bite, pre-loading the slack just untill it got a little tight and then snapped the rod, worked perfect.

Problem solved :) Thanks all for the suggestions.

And Yee Hah to ya. Every morning after a night of fishing, my left side ribs are bruised and sore to the touch. Wow that's a great feeling!

I'm glad your problem is solved. I wish it was as easy for me. This has been my weakness from the start. I think your right. Paying attention has allot to do with this matter. I get very frustrated every time I lose a fish. It happens to me allot. :'(

I went fishing Wednesday and I set the hook, just not good enough. I had two fish that were lost right before I could get them in the boat. My husband says it's going to break my heart when I lose a 6lb fish because I didn't set the hook good. It already does break my heart and they were just keepers.

Tip: Good hookset is a function of speed, not power.

I wanted to highlight George's post again, especially for Teria.

The hookset is not about power and strength. Practice "quick"

and your problem will vanish!
