Super User Wayne P. Posted June 10, 2008 Super User Posted June 10, 2008 Nope, no difference in fishing results and baits, getting there is a lot more expensive though. Quote
S I G M A Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Nope, no difference in fishing results and baits, getting there is a lot more expensive though. how true how true... > Quote
soccplayer07 Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 haha very true. where i am from i hear $5 by july 4th. Quote
Super User Tin Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 Complete 180. Last year it was a deeper grass bite around this time. But this year most of the fish are coming from 6" of water or less. Matt and I did good today (97, no wind, bluebird) in less that 6" of water under bushes and pads. And there is hardly any jig bite. > Quote
brgbassmaster Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 gas prices lol.....idk why everyone keeps saying its going to be 5$ by 4th of july. they said it was going to be 4$ by memorial day and i just hit 4$ yesterday here. also for 2 yrs they said it will be 4$ and this is the first yr it is 4$ so i will believe it when i see it 5$ that is. fisher of bass Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 my buddy and i went out @ 4 a.m this morning, he caught 5, mostly smallies nothing big, i caught 3 largemouth nothing big, but noticed 11 dead fish, mostly perch. the lake is pretty big [milton 3 ponds]. but i was wondering if bass always spawn in the same place every year? for the past 5 years i fish this cove and there were beds every where, this year hardly anything, and i have been fishing since iceout, every week. JShrock07 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I fish a pretty large 85 acres lake and every year the beds have been in the exact same area. I have been fishing it for over 4 years now. The best thing I could tell you is don't give up!!! You will find them. I have had about the same luck as alot of the others. I usually slay the bass every year but this year I haven't done so hot. I hope this isn't going to become a trend for years to come. Good luck to you!!! Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 less but bigger fish this year. so its kinda a compromise. Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 This year we've had plenty of rain and pleasant temps. The fishing has been as good as I can remember in both quality and quantity. I hope it continues!!!!!! Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 This year is definitely off from last. Can't put my finger on it. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 Well, most of my fishing is hugely effected by rainfall and waterflow. Here in the Mid South we have had two years of drought prior to this year. Our reserviors and ponds are now full and the rivers are running near capacity. My fishing is at least 200% better than it has ever been! May was the best largemouth fishing I have ever experienced, but most of that was the result of discovering a new "secret pond". During the month I caught fourty-three bass, only four under 5 lbs! One was caught on a Cavitron Buzzbait, another on a Smithwick Floating Rogue and the rest on Evolution, GMAN and Micro Munch Tackle jigs, Baby Paca Craw and GYCB Flappin' Hog trailers. I have had equal success with JJ's Magic and MegaStrike attractants. Oddly, my strong suit is soft plastics, but I have not fished a Fat Ika, Senko or worm all season. Oops! I did catch a couple of these bass on the Shak-E2 with a GYCB Kut-Tail and full size Paca Craw. So, I guess those count as soft plastics, but I have not fished with my normal weightless presentations. 8-) Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Last year I couldn't fish because I was in Iraq. This year I can fish because I'm not in Iraq. Quote

Super User fishfordollars Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 My fishing has been about par. Dinks and more dinks. I mean 12" fish on 12" worms. That's bad. Quote
garry77 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 As far as numbers go I may be down a little on average. But size is a lot better this year.I've been trying a few new techniques and lures so the lower numbers could be a result of the learning curve I uess, lol. Quote
Davis Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Size and numbers are both up for me by a huge margain. Haven't gone out nearly as much either. Already beat my smallmouth count from last year and the season isn't even close to being done yet. Experimenting with different baits is the key IMO. Last year I was stuck on Powerworms for smallies and Senkos for bass. This year I can't even count how many different baits I have tried with success. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 Difference between last year and this year. Last year.- fishing trips ---> 2 per week, lots of fish caught This year.- fishing trips ---> 1 every 3 or 4 weeks. Not many fish caught either, trips too short in time ( a couple of hours ) to make much of a difference. Quote
