Today!  I think you should drop what you're doing and go fishing right now and find out.   ;)

Seriously, though, I think you should give the fish about a week to find it, and then give it a shot.  I have read that fish have been known to relate quickly to artificially placed cover, especially if some thought is given to where and how it is placed.  Is it placed in a location that futher enhances its attractiveness to fish such as on or near a main lake point or creek channel, near a drop off to deeper water, or in deeper water just off the flats?  I would think that any place that makes a good ambush point for bass to feed on bait fish would be an ideal location to place some cover if none already exists naturally.

That depends on where you placed them. I have a lot out on two lakes and several(not all) were producing within 24 hrs. Some I have never done well on, several though, will produce one or two just about every time you check them.

When my son was smaller I would cut off tree limbs ( Off my Cedar) and lay them in the waters edge. Usually four or five. By the time he got all his fishing stuff together and down to the bank, (10 minutes) he would sneek up to the limbs and quickly jerk them out of the water one at a time and catch the bait fish and fill his bucket up to fish for bigger fish. I dont know for sure but I would assume that  a Bass would know that the baitfish are in the newly placed brush piles. My 2 cents!

I'd check them the next time you go out for sure. If you put them in a good spot that is intersecting with the current phase of the fish in your lake, they should be there.

Bass seek newly flooded timber and shoreline grass immediately when flooding occurs.     Why would a green brush pile make any difference?

"If" you placed them in good areas, you can catch bass off of them the next day.
