Super User Sam Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 While fishing the James River just east of Richmond with my friend, Charlie, the bite was slow until Charlie hooked a big one. Only problem was that it was a snag. At least we thought it was a snag. Charlie takes his lure retriever and puts it on his line and lets it sink to the crankbait. He then pulls on the green cord and the cord comes lose. Now,he is mad, so he takes his rod and starts to shake it hard and cuss and jump up and down trying to get his beloved Salad Bar Bandit crankbait loose. The snag comes loose and he brings a BOOT into the boat. A GI boot. I almost fell overboard laughing. I then tell him to look inside the boot for his lure retriever and he does. Nope, not there. I then tell him to go back down with his lure and try to find the missing boot so he will have a set of GI boots. He did not see the humor in my suggestion. You see so many cartoons of people catching a boot that to actually have it happen is very funny. To this day I remind him of the story and I still laugh. If only you could have seen the look on his face when he brought that boot into the boat. ;D For me, I have not caught anything interesting. Not that I remember, anyway. Quote
Staff Sergeant--USMC Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Hummm, weirdest thing caught; lets see...... well there was this one time in Thialand....Oh, wait you are talking about fish!!!! ;D I'd say it was catching an eel on a pond on base in Camp Lejeune, NC. We ended up catching allot of them. I have no clue as to what they are really called, I just know that they are eels. I cut the line and throw them back in! Quote
wickyman Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I have also caught a condom actually. Caught it on a rapala, looked like a windsock when it was coming in. At least the fish know how to use protection! lol Quote
xps94 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 something in the intercoastal idk but it was like a toad mixed with a eel and it croaked with a bright white colored mouth. :-?.i was alone and afraid to touch it so jus cut the line next to the hhook.. Quote

IDbasser Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I'd say it was catching an eel on a pond on base in Camp Lejeune, NC. I remember back when I was a young kid catfishing on the Red River on the border of Arkansas and Texas and hooking an eel. My dad was reeling it in and it did a flying leap through the air, and I wasted no time running up the bank to get away from it as fast as I could. I did not want to be any where close when it got reeled in. It came off in that leap. Quote
ducksdoom12 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 weirdest thing i caught was a loon second place a bull frog Quote

Super User islandbass Posted June 3, 2008 Super User Posted June 3, 2008 This season, I caught my home made inline spinner hooked up a pair of boxers for the lake bottom. Yuck!!!!! Also this season, As I made the motion to end the retrieve (lifting lure out of the water to make a cast) a bat came out of nowhere are latched onto my lure as I pulled it out of the water and up toward me. His wing got caught on the jig hook but he broke free as I stared in wonder. 1/4 oz jig head and a wacky rigged 3" pink senko. : Quote

thetr20one Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 the weirdest thing i have caught had to be a condom. i caught it with a crank bait and thought i had a good fish, and well everyone came over to me to see waht i got and i pulled up a condom full of water. i was really embarrassed. then i had to find a way to get it off, i wasnt touchen it The Ohio river has some sewage runoff and I think I have caught a limit of condoms in a day. Sick, very sick just thinkin about it makes me ill. Fishing at the river I have caught the kitchen sink. Literally! Some weird things float down that river. Other than that, a goose, a bat, huge clumps of zebra mussels you name it and I have problably hooked it! Fishing at Lake St. Claire I was going across the Walpole Indian Reservation in about two feet or less of water, too shallow to come off plane and a Swan was flying at the boat, I tried to avoid it but it flew right into the side of the boat. It was dazed but my partner watched and it flew away. Quote
BackofHisSkeeter Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I caught a 3 Inch long Snail once while fishing for Cats, I felt a little nibble I thought, so I Set the hook on it and all. I cracked it open and used it for bait... Quote
