Super User Gatorbassman Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Take luck out of fishing. Quote
MaxDal Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Just go fishing ! Of course you will get skunked every now and then. That's the way it is. sub-advice, you won't see big fish every time. If you want to, I suggest choosing Fishkeeping as a hobby No seriously, go fishing ! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Take a kid fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Popeye Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Have FUN, be PATIENT, and be PERSISTANT. Most of us don't make our living fishing tournaments. One last thing, don't get frustrated when you don't have a good day fishing. It happens to EVERYONE once in awhile (whether they admit it or not:o) Sorry I echoed what has already been said, but I was fishing most of the day yesterday. Got skunked, but had several good strikes. 2nd time out on my H3 Freestyle mini-pontoon. Quote
jhoffman Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 No amount of reading can substitute for time and things learned on the water. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Confidence in your tackle, and equipment. Learn to read your electronics. Get off the bank and search out some offshore structure and learn how to read your depthfinders. do not worry what everyone else is doing, learn to figure it out on your on. Have fun! Pay no attention to DOCK TALK! Quote
simplejoe Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Enjoy being one with nature. x2 that's my excuse I tell my wife all the time. ;D and she's like Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Always take a dump before a long day of fishing. Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Don't be afraid to try something new. You should see some of the crap I've tried that actually worked. Quote
boomdigity Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 If you don't believe that cast you just made won't catch a fish. You won't catch a fish. Tune everything out and pay attention to what you are doin and what your bait is doing. (I turn on my MP3 and close my eyes after I make a cast alot of the time and it helps settle me down) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Ask someone (but NOT on this Forum) to tell you the story about "The Old Bull and The Young Bull". 8-) Quote
Big Tom Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Always take a dump before a long day of fishing. No wiser words have ever been spoken. I've had some rough days on the water because I didn't follow this advice. And roadwarrior, ;D Quote
MDbassinmike Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Be observant of every fish you catch, every fish you don't catch, every movement in the water, wind direction, time of year, time of day, water color, water temperature, size and color of dominent prey, how does your lure look to the fish. All of these things should tell you something. I have learned more on the water than I have in books and magazines. If you watch and listen, you will learn. BE OBSERVANT! Quote
