indy basser Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 If you could only give 1 piece of advice to a beginner angler what would it be? or what is the best advice you ever recieved about bass fishing? It can be about a philsophy, tactic or anything else. Mine would be something my grandpa always told me, If you do what you did, you'll get what you got. This applies for scenerios when you are or are not catching fish and I always try to remember that. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 It's not about having the fastest boat, the most tackle, or the best set-up. It's all about having fun. Quote
guitarkid Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 What ever floats your boat, to each his own. -searoach Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 22, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 22, 2008 Fishing is for fun, catching is a bonus! Quote
preach4bass Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, where they are fishing, or what they are using. Find your own fish, where they are and what they are biting. Quote
Daiwa Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Enjoy your time on the lake. Remember, A bad day of fishing, is better than a good day of work. Quote
kms399 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 slow down, relax and enjoy the scenery. if you catch a fish be happy don't wish it was bigger. Quote
ZEN BASSIN Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Don't get frustrated keep at it. That's why it's called fishing not catching. Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 just make sure no matter how tough it is you always have fun. If you aren't having fun, just go home because you should only be out there if you want to be Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 On second thought, I'll go with "throw back the big ones" (and always bring a camera and a scale---we're not good at guessing) Quote
Valascus Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 The best piece of advice I feel that can ever be given to a bass angler is this one thing: There is no such thing as fishing too slow. Just when you think "Man, I am fishing this bait kinda slow...", slow down some more. I am not the most patient fisherman in ther world sometimes, but I have started to pay more heed to this advice in recent months and I am starting to feel like it is making a difference in the numbers and quality of fish I am catching. bass wrangler569 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 As Ike would say "Never give up". If you have confidence in what you are doing be patient and the bites will come. Quote
basser89 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Don't try to take on too much all at once. Learn to master one, MAYBE, two techniques before moving on to another. Quote
BassinAssassin171 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Don't buy a lure just because it is expensive or looks cool!!!! That doesn't mean it will automatically catch fish! Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Learn how to locate & read deep water structure Quote
Branuss04 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 One peice of advice DON'T GET.... Thanks modydick for the pic Quote
flip4i Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Read the beginner articles. A few members offered this advice and I have learned a lot because of it. Quote
FR0G Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Be patient. You won't always catch a fish. Concentrate on the cast you are making, not any future casts. Quote
