JonnyBoy Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 When i was younger (probably 15 ish or so) i remember seeing this bait on TV. I had a job at the time, so i bought this "magic" minnow kit and gave it a shot. Once i finally learned how to properly use the minnow i've had lots of success with it! It works almost exactly as it was advertised. I recently bought the "006" Banjo Minnow kit to replace my depleting supply. I just wanted to see how many other people have tried this lure and compare what kind of success (if any) they've had. If i get sum pics anytime soon, i'll be sure to upload
SnowBass23 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Oh sweet! This topic hasn't been beat to death! I'm just kidding, but seriously, you can do a forum search and find a ton of posts about the banjo minnow.
dmac14 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 People on here tend to shy away from it. My dad caught some decent sized smallies using the system. The hooks rust after one use. Also use the fluke rigged like a banjo minnow gives it some nice action. As for the commercial how could you not want to buy them they caught fish every cast lol but so does Bill Dance...
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Last week I found something quite similar to the banjo minnow in the trunk of my car, had been sitting there for 2 years. I put it on, Baaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmm. Peacocks and lmb have been killing it, I love it. I just order 5 packs of them.
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Banjo minnows work, but other soft jerks like flukes and sluggos cast further, hook fish better, and have a better action. Go with the latter ones.
Captain Obvious Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Somebody said Banjo Minnow everybody duck the trash is going to start flying ;D ;D ;D lol
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Would it be possible to have the words Banjo and Minnow stricken from our language if they are ever used in a phrase that refers to fishing?
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Speaking of junk lures, have you seen the newest informercial for the Mighty Bite? Only $19.95 plus shipping and handling for 9 lures and some add-ons ( even the fish attracting red treble hook). Same old song and dance just like the Banjo Minnow, Lazer Lure, and Helicopter Lure.
NYfishwow Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 they work, i caught some fish after using some best baits in my lake, like swimbaits, hardbaits,ect... They do work, its was made a lure, caught many fish with them past couple of years. The guy who made banjo minnow wayne, sent his hole life fishing, i guess that should mean something.
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 NYfishwow, Roland Martin spent his whole life fishing too, but he did the Helicopter Lure infomercial. It's called MARKETING.
Super User flechero Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 I'm surprised this hasn't been locked yet... every time the banjo minnow comes up it gets locked. My younger brother bought them years ago and caught the heck out of the LM bass at our old pond.
riverfisher Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Which is better the Banjo, the Chuck Woolery MotoLure or the True Motion Lure? This is a tuffy!! hahaha http://www.chuckwoolery.com/motolures.php
Captain Obvious Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I've never used them but mainly because of the bad stuff I hear about them on BassResource.com, has anybody bought a lure that they saw on a commercial and been happy? I have come to he conclusion that if it's on a commercial its not worh buying.
Super User Raul Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Here 's how I see it, based on my experience as an avid tackle junkie and after all these years of fishing only in very few ocassions I 've encountered a lure that really doesn 't work ....... if fished properly, in the right location, with the right presentation. Now that I 've come to think about it the only lure I can say that doesn 't work is the Heddon Cousin II ( don 't know anyone who has ever caught a fish with it ). I do have a Helicopter Lure kit and let me tell you, I 've seen bass hit the strangest things so there 's no reason for me not to believe that it may catch fish, ya know, bass can be as dumb as rocks sometimes so I 'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Flying lure ? yup I do have a kit of those and they catch fish. Fortunately I finally married the lady who made me the favor of gifting me with such gifts and since she no longer has to do so I 'm happy to say that I 'm now Infomercial Lure Gift Free ( thank God I married her before the Walking Worm or I bet I would have one kit of those too ) Now back to the Banjo Minnow, as I said, I 've seen bass hit the strangest things so if fished right, in the right location, in the right conditons I can 't doubt it will catch fish. However I think that there are a lot better and cheaper options out there that have been around for a longer time and that are proven fish catchers like Fluke and Slugo type jerkbaits so why bother in purchasing a Banjo Minnow kit ?
