HSFishing Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Hello. I am having a little trouble with my fishing. I live in Northern Georgia across the street from a pond thats about 150yrds x 150yrds. Not big but not small. Water is somewhat murky and the temperature is usually 85 during the day and 60s in the evenings. Now, no body ever fishes at this pond besides me, so there are a large number of monsterous bass. I have been going down there every day and have not caught a fish yet. I can see the bass and I reel my bait right through a group of 3 of them and they dont even pay attention to it. So finding the fish is not the issue. What bait should I use? I have tried just about everything to no avail. Please give me some advice on what bait or tactics to use. Thanks in advance. Quote

Tanker4lyfe Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 with you desription of three bas together i assume theyre swimming in a pack like scenario. this tells me theyre on thyre late postspwan pattern most likely hurding in on baitfish i would get out early and throw a buzz bait or zoom super fluke maybe even a suspending jerkbait Quote
HSFishing Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 Wow. Thanks for the quick response. Ill pick some of those lures up and try them out tomorrow. Thanks! Quote
BirdNestBen Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I've had good luck on the zoom super fluke in watermelon seed.... put a small splitshot above the lure... 3/0 gamakatsu hook... twitch reel type pattern.... Same setup with the senkos... I fish the Strike king zero because it's a little cheaper in watermelon red... Then go with a texas rigged with a bullet weight... berkley powerworm in blue.... And the best technique you may use is parallel casting the banks, weedlines with white or chartreuse willow leaf spinnerbaits.... Don't know if there are any crawfish in there??? If there is, I'd surely try a Gene Larew Craw worm.... brown with orange claws.... Sometimes in the Summer the bass will go deep and I put a bullet weight and texas rig the Senkos... works great..... Also, if the fishing gets real slow wacky rig the Senkos... I've caught some real nice bass fishing this way...... Quote
Ifish4keeps Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 i have a similar pond near me, the fish travel in "wolfpacks." what i usually throw is either a senko, tube or topwater lure like a frog, popper, or spook. i have a lot of success on these lures and have caught many bass weighing more than 3 pounds there. good luck hope you get a couple lunkers.
