armesjr Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 First of all, this is a pretty stupid question. Not trying to be mean, but it is. I think we can just sum it up as its more exciting for some, not as exciting as for others. Everyone is going to have their opinions, none of which are right or wrong. For me, playing sports and competing against other people, is a lot more exciting than fishing. Basically it just comes down to what you get the most enjoyment out of, is going to be the most exciting for you. There is no correct answer, and nothing anyone says is going to change what you think. These opened ended arguements, and continuous debates over why brand Y is better than brand X, are starting to get a little painful. I am not trying to be a jerk to anyone, or diss this board. I check the board pretty much everyday and have learned a lot. But some of this stuff is just painful to read. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted May 1, 2008 Super User Posted May 1, 2008 I'm over 40, and athletic, but how often do most of us get to participate after high school and such? Not every one is into all the traditional sports, thus sports for some is spectator only, jand limited to part of the year, while fishing is hands on 365/24/7 for some of us in the south. I think in a few years, the excitement of my Grandson catching his first fish will top most of my accomplishments. His first Bass maybe even better, and if and when, God willing to let me be there, our first tournament together may be another great day. Theres not a day that doesn't pass and I think about his first Rod and Reel. I can't speak for Russ and others, but taking someones else fishing that has never had an opportunity is rewarding in itself. You can sure hear the gleam in Russ words from hosting his first CAST event, and to me, giving back at that level is exciting and what fishing was supposed to be. Spending time with family, friends, and kids. Quote
