Big-O Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Definitely one of the best learning curves in fishing is watching someone else tear you up on numbers. The more it happens, the better you get. www.ragetail.com Quote
Quinn Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 My brother is my main fishing partner and it never fails that he catches ten fish to my one. Yesterday he caught 6 or 8 bass and I never got BIT! Unbelievable! Using basically the same soft plastics. Heres what was different and tell me what you think is the main reasons he does so much better, other than I SUCK! Get a new brother ;D Quote
MaxumBass Posted April 18, 2008 Author Posted April 18, 2008 Quinn, I don't care if I every catch another fish, I enjoy fishing and especially with my Bro... catching is secondary. Max Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Fishing in my boat is always a team effort, it's us against them, not me against you. This whole mindset is what Team LBH is all about. (well, that and getting it done for as little moolah as possible, lol) Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 I like to keep track, but I'll almost never put money on it. Well sometimes in the spawn its fun to put a dollar on biggest fish but thats it lol Quote

(well, that and getting it done for as little moolah as possible, lol) You couldn't have said it better LBH. When we take a friend fishing, do we hope that has a miserable time? He's not Osama Bin Laden! He's your friend and you should hope that he catches a fish of a life time. Now that's good fishing times you can remember. kudo's www.ragetail.com Quote
Popeye Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Ditto to what LBH and Big-O said! When I fish with others we ALL consider it a team effort and rarely does "the boat" get skunked. Makes it FUN for everyone aboard. IF I catch just ONE fish on a given outting, I'm happy irregardless of how many my fishing partners have caught. When I do get outfished or skunked, it frustrates me somewhat but that's why it's called fishing and not catching. It's still FUN either way, IMO:o) Quote
rondef Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 My son is my primary fishing partner and we are equally matched. Between the two of us we can cover areas very thorough. It is also cool because we get to share some great times together. Quote
Handy Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 For me it's my brother. No matter what we fish for he outdoes me. Somehow he has a keen sense of "throw your lure over there and you will get something". I do allright one my own but when he suggests where to put my bait I do and ussually I hook up. He did this to me last summer while catfishing. I had been fishing on the river for a while and nada when he stopped by after work. While we were talking he said try over there and sure enough after a minute I had a nice cat on the line, go figure. My bro is my best fishing partner and I never feel bad when he outdoes me. I always just enjoy that "we" didn't get skunked, LOL! However he has changed jobs this year and will have less time to fish with me so I will have to improve my "fishing 6th sense". Paul Quote
Tpayneful Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 My fishing partner schooled me in the early days. I was stubborn and was going to "beat" him. I wouldn't accept his suggestions or lures because I was too proud and wanted to beat him on my own. Well, I got over that and started doing what he was doing with the lures he was using. If your buddy is catching fish tie on the same lure and ask him for tips on how he worked the lure. Also, the more you educate yourself and the more time that you spend on the water, the better fisherman you will be! Quote
lknbassman Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I wish I could be so lucky, I'm still drawing partners most of who can't fish much less go fishing for a day without losing half of thier stuff in the lake as the 250 Pro XS moves us on down the lake and blows all of thier stuff out of the boat. Yes the 21' Triton has a TON of storage, why they choose to sit on thier stuff or try to hold it between the legs or under thier arms when I'm running 75 down the lake is beyond me. I wish my guys would kick my butt, heck we might win something...... I just get the lucky draws for co angler I guess. Ain't it great? Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 LKN - You gotta remember that alot of guys are just out fishing for the fun of going fishing. Since I'm a boater I always try to give my riders atleast a five minute warning of when we're going to move, that helps alot. My dad is the same way, you just gotta remember to focus on what your doing and going back to get a couple lures really isnt that big of a deal. Polite conversation helps the day go faster too. I wasn't always a boater though and I know what its like to be with a boater that only cares about himself, I think thats why I always try to be nice to my riders. If my rider has a fish on I'm the first one to reach for the net and give him a high five when it gets in the boat. I have fished with people that haven't helped me at all and even tried to keep fish off my hook. I'm not saying you're one of those people by any means, I'm just trying to share experiences that I've had that make me sympathecize with my riders Quote
wdy77 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 First get rid of the swizel, and dont give up. It could be you just dont have the feel for it yet. Soft plastics are not for everyone!!! :-? Quote

wagn Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 nothing bums me out more then when i take someone out fishing and i'm catching fish and they don't get anything. I really enjoy watching other people succeed and like LBH and others have said, fishing on my boat is a team effort. Quote
BassinAssassin171 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 im in the same boat. my friend always outfishes me and when ever i suggest something he bashes it and tells me im wrong lol hahahahaaaaa.... sorry hudson.. I don't ALWAYS bash you! I just used to get annoyed (and still do) cuz you ALWAYS suggest/use the exact same thing. It used to be a spinnerbait, now its a jig... variety bud Quote
wgilfus81 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Because Im a rookie compared to the guys I fish with, Im constantly getting beat, usually by a wide margin. The upside is I pay close attention and learn what I can from them based on what they're doing. So if score is kept based on knowledge and not fish landed, then I win and the joke is on them Quote
