I've only seen a few episodes and I loved it. One I remember was when mike was fishing with a guy who was promoting his home made jigs.

He kept saying how awesome they were for that lake but the bite was obviously tough. Mike switched to his senko and was hookin some small fish. You could tell the guy was just like grrrrrr with every fish mike caught! haha!

Love the show mike, keep the down to earth real guy fishing up!

That show is right up my alley.  Just ordinary fellas fishing and talkin about what works,and the format really catches the friendship 2 guys can have in a small boat!

I've never seen the show. Problem being that most of these show on Sat. or Sunday morn. I work two Saturdays of the month and fish the other two and church on Sunday mornings. A real life show would be nice and not private lakes.

I DVR his show. I'm sick of Charlie Moore. Met him once and he was a rude until the cameras came on. I respect Mike D and wonder despite all the glamour thats come to sport angling, how did you get your own show? Regardless, I'd rather watch you and some regular guy fishing it up like I would be with a buddy, than watch C. Moore with another celebrity. Hey Mike. Take me fishing.

AJ, to answer your question how the show came about:  i went to film school back in the late 80's and broke into the film production biz producing independent films and other film and video productions... i co-own and operate a production company here in new york city... around the year 2000, i started bass fishing and by 2001 i became the co-owner and operator of a very popular bass fishing website nybass.com... around 2003 i had the idea of doing a pilot for a fishing show; a new kind of show that features everyday bass fishermen as the guest experts and me as the guy who is always trying to learn and have fun... my persona on the show is of a novice fisherman and guests are encouraged to bust my balls and just have fun like they would fishing with their good friend(not to say i'm pretending to be a bad fisherman, i really am not that good)... this new approach to a fishing show gives me an opportunity to meet lots of interesting people, which i really enjoy... and being a filmmaker, the 30 minute format is a great chance for me to be creative and have fun while making short documentaries on people and places.

after we produced a couple of pilot shows, we brought it around to different networks and ended up making a deal with the sportsman channel; a new outdoors network at the time... the show was an instant hit at TSC, being voted the viewer favorite fishing show the first 3 years of broadcast... we recently moved to the world fishing network and the soon to launch water channel... you can view us on television throughout the usa and canada and anywhere in the world on the web... we'll be in over 30 million television homes by the summer... we launch on DirecTV in May and hopefully will be on DISH and more cable systems later in 2008.

so, that's the story in a nutshell... we're having an amazing time putting the show together and have enjoyed a nice, steady growth through our 3 1/2 years of production.

Just because he has a tv show doesnt mean he has to be KVD. He's just fishing with normal guys for fun like you and i and 95% of the people on this forum.

But lets not put these youngins to the fire too much as we ALL have done/said stupid things w/o thinking as teenagers, this is a perfect oppurtunity to teach these lads not berate them(not that anyone has)

So boys no need to go into hiding, lesson learned... 8-)

btw, Fishing has nothing to do w/ being the best or being great, its all about the enjoyment, excitement and relaxation of this great sport. 8-)

Hey Mike. Sounds like you've put alot of work to get where you are and you have fun with it. Great show....... great guy. Keep it up! And for the NH anglers I know, we ALL love your show and watch it like religion. I think your show is where we got our love for ragging on each other on the water. ;D

Oh, that comment made by bassinboy........... really....... who is the best fisherman? I don't think there has to be a "best". Its all about knowing bass, knowing what to throw, where and when. I know these things, but still get skunked now and then. The show isn't about catching as many fish as possible. Its about fishing with buddies and having fun while doing it. I think its a great show for people who don't fish and don't know about it. My buddy John for example. He says he'll never fish again because it was boring. He watched Mikes show, saw how much fun it could be then agreed to go with me. Luckily for me that day the bass were biting and he had a blast. If we got skunked that day........ well........ it would of made me look like an *** and John would dislike fishing even more. Now, I can't take the BPS catalog away from him.
