IneedAnewScreenName-3271 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I remember we had a brand new 1957 Ford Fairlane hard top convertable. I think it cost like $1,800 brand new. OHHH, and the bass...any day I'd love to catch one a those. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted April 1, 2008 Super User Posted April 1, 2008 I remember we had a brand new 1957 Ford Fairlane hard top convertable. I think it cost like $1,800 brand new. My first car (shotrod) was a brand new 1961 Ford Starliner costing $2,700 (Overdrive 3:89 to 1 differential - 390 cu in engine - pushbutton radio) 8-) Roger Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted April 1, 2008 Super User Posted April 1, 2008 What it really shows, is alot of different opinions without any real evidence, just opinions. If it was that easy to dispell Georges record, it would have been done already long ago and the record would rest elsewhere with someone elses name attatched to it. After all these years, 22.04 is still the mark in the books, and all the CSI isn't gonna change it. Quote
surfer Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Well, since you can't ID the "road" from the pic... it could be the road, P.O. driveway or the driveway to another property all together. So actually you can't prove the direction or if it was a morning or late afternoon photo. Who knows, it could be a pic from that evening after they were home. The fish could have been on ice throughout the day. Too many unknowns to prove or disprove anything, IMO. I might be showing my age, but we didn't have ice in 1935. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted April 1, 2008 Super User Posted April 1, 2008 If I was holding Fish Chris' recent 17 lb. bass, would it not still be a 17 pounder, just because I was holding it? Would he still not be the one who caught it, just because he was behind the camera? I realize it's not "ideal" but there is no actual evidence to say Perry's fish was anything but legit, is there? I have no doubt that if GP had any idea that this would be such a huge debate later, he would have done a few things differently. If for no other reason than his reputation. a great point! for example, we all know that Mac Weakly caught and released that 25.1lb bass out at Dixon Lake. wellllllllllll, in the pic that we are all familiar with, Mac's buddy, Mike Winn is holding the fish, not Mac. with that being said, those photos are some AMAZING BASS!!! i really have no contribution to the controversy, i dont care who's bass those are and where they came from because they are awesome! my view on this: lets not try to put down others' great catches and instead, lets admire them! George Perry's 22.4 is still in the books and it will be till someone beats it. nuff said :-X Quote
LooksLikeSinbad Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Chris - Do you have the original url of the photo? If not, do you remember what you searched for on google to find it? Quote
Fish Chris Posted April 3, 2008 Author Posted April 3, 2008 No, sorry. I think I did a search for "huge bass".... or something of that nature. Peace, Fish Quote
