Last summer I fished the hell out of a lake in my area. I fished it at least 3 times a week for 2 months, and only caught one huge bass. Other than that, NOTHING. I fished the shallow edges where the lily-pads were, I fished shallow weed beds, boat docks, and rock piles. I still couldn't manage to pull up a fish. I know there's big bass in there somewhere but I can't find them.

The big boy I managed to pull up was from the edge where a tree branch had fallen in using a 6" tequila sunrise Power Bait. What would you guys do in this situation?

Three times a week for two months and only one fish.  You are persistant, I'll give you that.  Are there no other bodies of water near you?  I'm afraid I'd have to give serious consideration to looking for some greener pastures.  Not much help for your situation, I know, just my reaction to your question.

Get rid of every tequila sunrise bait you own and get somthins that matches forage or vegetation color. then spike the ens if it matches the grass w some chartruese dip it. try it again!

I hit a slump kinda like that last summer but not as long. I started keeping track of water temp. and the lures I would use and the time of day. You would be suprise how this really helps your fishing. Also you posted you fish alot of shallow...how about a little bit deeper. I've always tried to fish shallows morning and evening. Anyway there are people on this board that are way more advanced than I am. Just wanted to respond with my opinion. I've notice when someone post there are alot of views but no opinions.... :)

If there are big fish in there, then chances are they will be deeper or in the thickest of cover. A lot of big ones just chill in the deeper water. And you did say that it was summer, so that might have pushed at least a few of them deeper, where there is more dissolved oxygen and cooler temperatures. Try a jig, texas rigged plastic in thick cover spinnerbait, crankbait, wacky worming, or a frog on the lily pads. Topwater bites are great in the mornings in summer, and also evenings. When the sun gets up throw the frog onto the lily pads or any thick vegetation, that will get some nice bass. I'm not sure what other baits you used during that summer, but a lot of different kinds work and i only named a few. Experiment. Good luck, hope i helped a bit!  :D

lol I am fishing two lakes about 3 times a week if not more here in CT catching nothing for the most part!!!!

I would suggest fishing it in other parts of the season especially autumn...

When someone says I fished the hell out of a place I think of what I do which is:

Fishing it often

Fishing it for many hours a day

Trying all types of lures and baits

and

Fishing every area possible

If there is no other near by place to fish near by

or

If this place looks like it holds big fish

I would suggest trying harder and use my definition of fished the hell out of a place and then report back

How big is the lake

How much did the bass weigh or how long was it

If you care to share what is the name of the lake

What other lures do you own
