the thick stuff that gives the bass a chance to cool off in the shade...lilies, hydrilla, weeds, etc.

a close second would be deep water

We fish for Largemouth in only one lake.  It is a small (100 acres) lake without a great deal of structure.  We concentrate on the areas where the deeper water is closest to the weed edge and also fish the heavy pads later in the summer.  For it's size, this lake produces a surprising number of 5 lb.+ fish.  That's all I'm allowed to say.   :-X

I like to fish the tullies (reeds/weeds) along the shoreline and especially near dropoffs! In the early and late hours the topwater bite can be awesome in those areas.

I love the weeds.  Somewhere I read that when it get hot the bass will move into the thick stuff to get the oxygen from the weeds.
