chaosnut Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Are there any Alternatives to Mounts that you know of besides getting a Replica made? I know someone said before that you could take your digital pictures and submit them to a company that does Custom Artwork... anyone here of that before? Quote
smallieking Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 no never heard of anything like that but the cheapest and easiest way to remember and amire a catch for the next years are to take pictures very cheap very easy lol im going out sometime to buy a camera just so i can take some pics of big fish Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted March 14, 2008 Super User Posted March 14, 2008 I keep five frames on my wall. It the frames are my five biggest fish. I take some good quality digital pictures of the fish after I catch it and then go home and put them on my computer and print them on quality photo paper to the size of the frame. I drop it in the frame and hang it back on the wall. Each frame cost me about 4 bucks. Quote
TXBasshunter Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 There are some places that can take a photo and transfer it to canvass like a painting. You might do a google search. I know there is a place here in town where I live that does it, but I have not seen any in person. Quote
key chain bass guy Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I have heard that a taxidermist can make a mount with a quality picture and accurate measurements of certain areas of the fish. I do not know where those measurement sites are. Anyway, I understand it is some substantial money to have this done, I would stick with a good picture. PS- Sorry, just reread your post. Not the information you were looking for. So to answer your actual question, I don't know. Quote
Fish Chris Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Hey Key chain, for that matter, a taxidermist (not really an accurate name anymore, as most don't use real fish anymore) or should I say, a "fish artist" can make a replica with "no photo" and "inaccurate measurements". It all depends on how closely you want your replica to match your actual catch. And even with the best photos and measurments, a lot of it still has to do with the skills of your fish art guy. I love replicas. Wish I could afford more of them, but a great photo is certainly the second best thing. Peace, Fish Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 14, 2008 Super User Posted March 14, 2008 Most malls have photo transfer art. You know, where you take a picture of the kids and they tranfer them to a T-shirt, coffee mug and such. Get a digital picture and he can transfer that picture to lots of items. Matt Quote
key chain bass guy Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I stand corrected Chris. I would probably add a few inches here and there anyway, end up with a bass the size of a whale hanging on my wall. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 14, 2008 Super User Posted March 14, 2008 Are you talking something like 3-D art ? Quote
chaosnut Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 AH HA! Someone found it for me on a hunting site, here take a look I have seen work they have done. It is simply amazing Perchhill.com Quote
