dolf Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 What do you do differently? Do the fish move deeper if the front is only a day or two? I shore fish so i don't know if water temp would have dropped at all. What are your cold front tactics? Quote
ohiobassmaster93 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 i just slow down my retrivespeed..i like to use a 4" senko and weightless Quote
Crankhead Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 This time of year, I really don't know if cold fronts matter much. It all depends on where you're at. In the Midwest I think it's too early to worry about cold fronts. Maybe I'm wrong. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 Slow down, fish tighter to cover, & fish deeper Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 Either speed up while fishing with reaction baits so you can cover more water or slow down and downsize. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 Spring cold fronts are tough. If you can catch a good one coming in, you can have one of the best times of your life. After it arrives things slow down for 2 or 3 days. Fish tight to cover and perhaps deeper, but especially tight to cover. Quote
holeshot Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 IMHO, try your best to fish the day before the front...as said before, it is usually fantastic ....after the front...???? :-/ Quote
Joel W Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Fishing after a front moves through especially in the spring from shore can be a real tough nut to crack. Fish generally move deeper to the 1st break and tend to stay real tight to cover, where the drop in temps don't have as much effect on the water temps as it does closer to the shore. Reaching these areas from shore can be next to impossible, or even finding them. Try casting a 3/8-1/2 jig which is really compact and will cast further and last a lot longer then a wt'd plastic bait. Work it back to shore very slowly with a stop & go presentation. And don't forget to move the jig with a side arm movement of your rod, not with the reel. You wan to keep the jig on the bottom, and hopefully bouncing right into the cover where the Bass moved to. smallieking Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 just slow down and if that dont work fish can be taken on reaction strike baits like a lipless crankbait Quote
Garnet Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Don't do anything until the fish tell you. The truth is we are in some sort of a cold front most of the time. Then theres only 2 things faster or slower and some lakes are faster and some slower. Garnet Quote
fishizzle Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Sometimes the fish just don't bite. I've seen a tourney won with 3lbs in a cold front Quote
