I have a lot of magazines that I've built up in the last few years, from 2004 until now.  I won't read them anymore but I hate to just throw them away.  What do you do with yours, keep and reread them or can you donate them somewhere so other people can read up on bass fishing??  Maybe some kids would get some use from them reading and learning??  Maybe??

Just seems a shame to toss them out but they're just taking up space here at home and not being read anymore.

You could do a couple things...

1) Throw them in a box and hope they are worth something some day

my dad has every magazine since it started in a boxes.

2) If you want to take the time to organize them you can cut out the articles and put them in a binder for a huge encyclopedia of bass fishing.

3) THE SHREADER

If you don't want them what about donating them to a local school library.  A lot of the schools will not spend money on anything but Ranger Rick and so most kids don't get to be exposed to BASS fishing unless a relative takes them.

I had all the issues from 1974 until around 2002.  I wound up selling them on Ebay.

I don't throw any of them away, I keep every single one. 8-)

I agree dont throw them away! I cant even think of how many times i got a new lure/wanted to learn a new technique/build something suddenly (anglers workbench section). I went threw all my old ones and found what i needed.

I save all mine and put them on top of this book shelf that i have all my fishing stuff on in chronological order. and if i find a really important article that i know i need to save i scan it, print it, and put it in a binder. so i can easily flip to and important article.

Good system! a lot better than mine.

1. Finish reading

2. Throw in messy closet

3. 3 months later search through 80 magazines for 1 article

I think the library donation is going to win out here.  I was thinking something like that but wanted to see if other people also thought that first.

Cut out any article you think will be helpful to look back on and put it in a binder... simple way

or

Do do whats listed above and separate them into different binders, for example one binder for spring time shallow fishing and either keep them at home, in your boat, or give them to a new angler who is open to learning all they can about fishing.. cough cough me (not a newbie though) - I think this would be your best bet

Leave a couple at a doctors office etc...

Recycle them

Post on ebay or here in this forum

They might be helpful to save and look back to when helping others in this forum.

A great reference

Another good idea

I had the privilege of seeing the first 10 issues while at the Classic.  Tony, who owns Sure Life, bought them off eBay and Ray Scott verfied them as authentic.  They were REALLY COOL to look at!

With my old Bassmaster Magazines, I cut out a few of the pictures and put a collage together. I hung it right above my desk at home. My walls where a little bare so I thought I'd add a little flare. 8-)

This is a good idea.  I could put a bunch of them in a flat rate postage box and ship it for $8.95 easily.  A year's worth or more should fit in one of those boxes easy.

Get them to the soldiers overseas! Not sure how to do it, but my associate at work just got out of the Army Rangers Program and he said he loved to pick up old magazines to read...

This is probably the best idea yet.  Now how can I do that??  Any idea where to start??

I also have kept  all my old bassmasters and am not sure what to do with them yet.  It would have been nice to have started organizing them from the start, but i didnt.

Live2fish- Thats a really cool collage!!!

Live_2_fish: thats pretty neat...I may have to do that some day when I'm bored.

It took me a while but I finally file 13 mine. Now, every year I get rid of my last year ones. It hurts but until I can figure out what to do with them that's what I'm going to do.

I put a post-it and have it stick out of the magazine and write what that section is about.  If it's about a certain type of presentation, time of the year (winter, summer, fall, spring), shallow/deep water, etc... So that way I can go back and look at those things before a certain time outing and just brush up on something I read about last year but might have forgot.

Great idea to send them to the troops overseas... Now if anyone has any other  mags they want to get rid of, drop me a note..  I lost many many years in my divorce and recent moving so I am always on the lookout for back issues...  Have a great day all.....   I do remember though, when I was in the Military how much I appreciated getting mags to read...  The military may be updated, but pretty hard to read about bass fishing when you are in the desert....
