Super User Jeff H Posted February 16, 2008 Super User Posted February 16, 2008 Anyone ever read this book by Bob Underwood? Lunker! is pretty old, my copy says 1975 so I suppose most of our younger members have not heard of it, but thought I'd ask. If you have read it or do own it what do you think of it? Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted February 16, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 16, 2008 Nobod here has read this book?? If you ever get a chance, do read it. His work is based on over 1700 hours of underwater study/observation of bass. He contradicts a lot of what is accepted as "the norm" today. It would make for a lot of "colorful" discussion here I'm sure. I don't think this book is easily obtained anymore though, I stole my copy from the Library about 20 years ago. (actually I just forgot to return it and found it about 5 yrs later packed away from our "move". Quote
Bassnajr Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I'm a reading fool, especially during the winter... I just looked on E-bay for this book. They have a few at a hefty price (for a used book that is!). Looks like you have a collecters item there. ajr Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted February 16, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 16, 2008 Unfortunately it's not in the best of shape, having been a Library book and all, but it is intact. Wouldn't be worth much to any collector, but it really is some good reading. Quote
Needemp Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I have read the book. it is very informative. I got a lot more from that book than I did any of the Big Mouth dvds. It is a definate read!!! Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted February 17, 2008 Super User Posted February 17, 2008 I have it. It is interesting; Enough that it brought up lots of questions. But, as I hear it, Mr Underwood and his wife died in a car wreck a year after the book was published. Quote
Bassnajr Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 That is glum news regarding the author and his wife.....but in this world, that probably makes the book worth more. ajr Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted February 18, 2008 Super User Posted February 18, 2008 I bought mine thru Amazon. Wasn't expensive. Quote
LooksLikeSinbad Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I read it and recommend it. My local library got it from another library for me for free. Quote
