ABC123 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Let's be honest now, nobody but the mod's can tell how you actually voted. Your more than welcome to answer below too. I fish for fun...a lot. Note: You will be able to see the results once you close it to voting. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I fish for fun...a lot. x2 Quote
Korea_Bassin Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I fish for fun a lot (when the water isn't ice), but I also enter a couple of local tournaments each year. Can't say I've ever made any money at it though. Best tournament finish = 4th. Prize for 4th place = Custom rod (and not a particularly good one either). So even the tournaments are "for fun". ;D Quote

Willzx225 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I fish tournaments for $$$ with a strong desire to compete at a higher level. I have been fishing the BFL/ Weekend Series for going on 8 years (Since I was 19). I've had some success, but with the exception of one year, nothing to alert the press about. (The one year that was the exception was the first year of the Weekend Series and I made it to the Championship in Florida as a boater) I have one pretty good sponsor (no money of course) and I am currently trying to expand on that but, due to long hours at work, find it very slow and pretty difficult. I am hoping this year to have an above average year both in tournaments and in increasing my relationships in the industry. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 Since my accident, I can't fish tournaments anymore. I really miss that aspect of fishing. I fish almost every day, either in the boat or from my seawall. Falcon Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I compete for fun, but sometime $$$ is involved If you're in the boat with me the competition is on; it maybe just for bragging rights Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I fish a couple local tournaments (small<40 boats mostly) and the rest of the time I am fishing for fun. The day job requires quite a bit of fishing time to unwind.... Quote

Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 Strickly for fun and relaxation. Quote
Peter E. Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I fish for fun as much as possible, but some times I get drugg into tournaments by friends of mine. Personally I find the whole tournament thing to be a blast. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 Fish4Funalot. Sounds like a good screen name. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I would hope that everyone fishs because its fun to begin with. If it isn't fun, why are you doing it? If you don't like your job, you gotta be miserable!!!! Quote
farmpond1 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Could you define "a lot?" It's difficult to say. Last season was so sporadic. During one period I fished 8 days in a row and then later, when it was scorching hot, I went out less than once a week. And, of course, since it's 2 below zero here, I'm doing zero fishing. But this year I plan to rectify that by ensuring the lights work on my boat and doing some night fishing. Oh, and tomorrow I'm going to try some ice fishing. Quote
skillet Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Might joke about a tally if in a boat with you but always just fun. Just never had a competitive nature ... As Ever, skillet Quote
Grandpa Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 When the weather allows and the job doesn't get in the way I fish a lot for fun, every day if possible. Quote
h2oman Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Fish for fun a few times a week, I'm very lucky in that my wife likes to go fishing with me. New baby coming in a month so we'll see what happens then Quote
shortbasser Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I compete for fun, but sometimes $$$ is involved. A couple of marina tourneys a month from spring to fall. Average of only 15-20 fishermen. More fun than $$. It does help the gas bill and appeases the "bait monkey" if/when I get lucky. Quote
ABC123 Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Could you define "a lot?" Well, I didn't really want to on the fun side, more of an open to interpretation thing. If you notice, "a lot" is the top non structured option. So, if a good portion of your free time is dedicated to fishing, then I would say that is a lot. A day during the week, and a couple weekends a month would be next, then maybe a few day's a month next lower, and so on down the line.... Quote
Rob G. Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I classify myself as a "recreational" fisherman that fishes some tourneys. Due to family obligations and differing work schedules between my wife and me, my time has become more limited. I still get out a couple days a week and usually go on a couple "fishing vacations" with they guys each year. Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I fish for fun but will fish local tournaments every now and then. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I'm usually on the water everyday of the week from mid-March to October, then 4 or 5 days a week until the ice comes, most of which is prefishing or just to learn. Also average about 35-40 tourneys a year. Quote
