Super User Catt Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 Last year my time on the water was greatly limited but for what ever reason I was on big fish all year starting with a personal best back in February of 12 lbs. 8 oz. I think it was a combination of limited time on the water and the fact Toledo Bend was 15' low for almost a year before returning to normal. My limited time on the water had me relaxed and concentrating harder while the low water concentrated the big bass. senko_77 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I didn't have a great year as far as size goes, but I had a tremendous tourny season. 1 2nd place BFL finsish 5 1st place finishes in the Jr. FLW circuit numerous top 5's in club fishing Biggest fish - 8lb 3oz Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Dang, that is an impressive number of bass. I didn't do nearly that well (and I didn't record nearly that well either!). 22 times out 93 bass (both large and smallmouth). Skunked only one time when I took my kids with me. I would say 70-75 of those were 3 pounds or less. Biggest of the year was 8 pounds 4oz. I don't think that's too bad for a shore bound angler. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 After looking back after all the days I fished, all the fish I caught, the tournaments, and everything else fishing related I did. I still think the best two things of 2007 for me was the C.A.S.T. for Kids event down at the Hatchery and the Paralized Veterans Tournament in September. These events really make you look at things differently and you remember every little think that happened. Even though we can only fish about 8 or 9 months out of the year I fished about 200 days this year. I dont even remember a lot of those trips or how many fish I caught. But the CAST and PVA event I remember every thing like it was yesterday. Every conversation, laugh, fish, and the feelings I had. These 2 events were the highlights of my year. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 Congratulations to all and a VERY SPECIAL ;D ;D ;D ;D WOW! ;D ;D ;D ;D to Catt. 8-) Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 Congratulations Catt, those are some highly impressive stats! 8-) Kevin VanDam would be proud of those numbers, but then again, he's just a tournament fisherman. Once again, the superiority of the T-rigged plastic worm has been reaffirmed (no surprise there). I will definitely give the Ring Worm a go this year Roger Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 11, 2008 Super User Posted January 11, 2008 I'm amazed at the numbers that some guys bring in. How do you guys find the time to fish SO much? Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Catt, I see your numbers and I think to myself that I've got to commit to becoming a better structure fisherman. I'll never have a year like that if I continue to spend 75% of my time beating the shorline. You've inspired me to spend my winter with Buck Perry. Thank you, Dan PS Congrats on a stellar year! Quote
paul. Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 catt, man, i gotta say i'm just totally blown away by those awesome stats. you had an amazing year for sure. many, many folks would be happy with what you have posted as LIFETIME stats. way to go man, and i hope you have an even better '08. you are also to be commended on your record keeping, something that quite frankly, i only do a fraction of compared to what i used to. thanks for this cool post and congratulations big time. Super User Catt Posted January 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 11, 2008 I have complete records of every fishing trip since 1972; it's just something I like to do and has become very helpful when planning a spur of the monument trip. I have these records in both Micro Soft Word and Excel; with Excel I can sort by any tangible and come up with a solution. Thank Y'all for the complements Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 11, 2008 Super User Posted January 11, 2008 Catt, Congrats on a fantastic 2007. I send my best to you for an even better 2008. As for me, LSU winning the BCS Championship says it all. Now that I can calm down and relax maybe I can do half as good as you did in 2007. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted January 11, 2008 Super User Posted January 11, 2008 Very impressive big fish catt. I don't have excell but keep track of many fishing trip items with Microsoft Data Base. With filters it allows many kinds of data reports which help me a lot. Keep up the good work. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I'd be happy with just ONE of those 10's. Over the past few years, I always start out with every intention of keeping a log and recording bass weights like that, but after a few entries I stop. As much as I would like to be a fine recordkeeper/logkeeper, I think I'll just try and fish more this year. When I catch that first "10", then maybe I'll be motivated to keep some more records. You 'da man Catt!! Those are some fine accomplishments. Quote
Jeff C. Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 OK Catt. got my notes out. there not as complete as yours.. but I do keep records of each trip out.. weather... location,,,date,,,,,what color worked...75% of the time I use a texas rig.. mostly worms,, but also,, Ikas,,craws,,also texas.. Guest avid Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 2007 started off real bad for ole avid. multiple surgeries kept me off the water way too much. but it ended up really good. Avid fished with a new friend......SteveP. who guided me to some of the best fishing I ever had. Including a new PB. As if that isn't enough, which it clearly is, we laugh so hard I get belly aches. (and with avid's belly that's mighty big laffin) Quote
