Korea_Bassin Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Alright, lets hear it. For those of you in the frozen climates, how do you fill your bassin urge during these winter (frozen?) months? Here's some suggestions, but I want to hear your answers... .....forget bass...put a deer in the crosshairs .....organize that neglected tacklebox .....building new tackle (lures/rods/boat) to land the summer's PB .....spend all your free time on UltimateBassResource.com .....go to a non-winter climate to get my bassin fix ...it's only ice... I surround it with bourbon daily? .....what's a winter climate? I'm sure you all have some better ways....let's hear them. Quote
ring fry Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I drive to Texas a lot in the winter. Have made two trips already and plan 3 or more before the end of March. That, and fish power plant lakes. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 We usually plan a one week trip to a warmer climate. In fact, we're leaving for Florida in twenty days. Besides that, these are some things I do to get through the winter months: 1- Organize all my tackle, replace bad hooks. 2- Spend alot of time at BPS, Gander Mountain, Dicks. 3- Clean and lube reels. 4- Spend alot of time here with you guys. 5- Read as much about fishing as I can. 6- Watch my new "Bass Pros" season one and KVD's "Advanced Spinnerbait Tactics" DVD"s. 7- Re-organize my tackle. Things like that. Falcon Quote

dman Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Last year was my first real serious year in about 12 years. Got married, had a kid, joined a rock band, so i was just too busy. So this winter i am spending it BROKE. Updating all my gear, getting new quality rods and reels and boosting my tackle. I joined a bass club in the fall so this will be my first real season fishing tournaments. I'm gonna learn a lot about fishin and boats so that im prepared for buying my own boat Also: Organizing tackle, reading magazines and watching DVD's. Spent my lunch break yesterday walkin around the pond that i probably caught every Bass over 10" last summer and just daydreaming about the upcoming season, even though its completely iced over. Pathetic! Walkin through the shops and tearin through Ebay for deals on Lucky Craft baits! (got a new Sammy yesterday for $8 !!!) Quote

Danarchy Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I go ice fishing myself. Sit in a warm ice shack with the wood stove fired up, watch fish on the aqua-veiew, allow the spinning orange glow of the vexilar to hypnotize me, jig the heck out of crappies and perch, watch the tip-ups (we've caught a lot of pike over 30", waiting for that 20 pounder), jig bass using hair jigs and jiggin' raps, caught a 17" bass today on a 2" perch jigging rap, ride ATV on the frozen tundra, and spend A LOT of time with my girl. Hell, you gotta keep busy, don't let a little ice keep you from gettin' at them fish! Quote
