At the very least, be glad that you had a trophy bass creek, and I would be going after the city. Chlorine is extremely dangerous and is classified as a hazardous material, there should have been no way that the city let it get released like that.

So far nothing from the 'City of Lawton' has been done to my knowledge.

A toxic creek now...Might find out tomarrow more about what the city will do or not do ::).

Just make's me >:(.

That creek has had a lot of 10 pound bass swimming around in it.

I have been fortunate anuff to catch 6 Bass from 10 lb - 14.2 lb from that creek.

Just watch'ed the 10 '0 clock news...

The water tank is no longer drain'n into the creek.

Still all the fish are dead & they apect all the shellfish to die too.

They..The City of Lawton will meet tomarrow to disuss the issue with the City of Medicine Park.

I sure hope they re-stock the creek & get it back to normal again very soon.

Well I hope that you get your creek back, even though I know that it will take a few years. For what it helps the pond in my avatar was poisoned 2 years ago, but it has been restocked and although they are not too big now they are all alive and healthy.

I wish you and your creek the best.

Take some pictures for evidence when or if it goes to court. I have seen things like this get swept under the rug.

You can have chlorine in the water and it not be harmful unless you drink it, but it will kill anything in the water. Think swimming pools, you put chlorine tablets in it to kill bacteria.

Redtop~ What?

I live about 100 yard's from the water treatment plant here in Medicine Park!

Noone is dead from the leaking water tank ::).

Nothing is closed off / or no access to the creek either.

No hazmat team is on location here.

Show us the pictures of the creek and dead fish :)

Yes, please do, because this

You are talking about a major fish kill that happend over night. Right?

I work on a hazmat team here in Texas, not to far from the Oklahoma border. I have been training hazmat personnel for more than 20 years. If there is a chlorine leak that is large enough to kill large fish in the numbers you are describing and kill them in a short time then it is a major leak and requires immediate evacuation of the surrounding area until it can be determined that it is safe enough for people to return. I called my office to check if there were any known leaks in the South Eastern Oklahoma area and they couldn't locate any. They would have gotten a report on them from anywhere in the US even if they were small. So buddy, I'm calling your bluff again.

Is dead on.  I am also a trained responder and will back up the fact that a chlorine leak that is big enough to kill full grown, large fish, would indeed require an evacuation.  Also, the EPA and WEF are notified of every chlorine spill, regardless of size, if it is released to the environment.  Nothing reported from your city/town on either site.

But you took pics so posting them will easily prove us naysayers wrong.

Hazmat guys.  Are chlorine gas and dissolved chlorine treated the same.  I believe the leak in this thread was dissolved chlorine similar to a swimming pool.  No body is evacuating swimming pools, but the chlorine in a swimming pool will kill big fish.  The chlorine in our tap water will kill big fish if you put them in a tank of tap water.

I agree it should be reported and handled as a bad situation, but maybe not warrant evacuations when it's no more hazardous than a swimming pool.

Disclaimer.  I have no knowledge of the actual leak and am only going off info from this thread.

I have been pretty good lately.  Havent said anything to offend anyone and this isnt meant to either.

You may want to check your boots....

I am no scientist or trained in emergency chemical clean up, but if something like that happens that quickly, I would want some answers from a professional regarding my ground water.  BTW, check the filter in your Brita.

I will gladly retract my statement if valid pictures are provided and that shouldnt be a problem since you have clearly stated that they do exist.

Good day.

Glenn,

I'm surprised at the dectectives on this site that didn't ask what an oil spill from somewhere else has to do with Oklahoma and this?

I know for a fact, that some of the same guys on here have pulled the wool over a few of your eyes in the past and ongoing to this day.  Do I loose any sleep over there pretending to be something they aren't?

I almost posted some pictures of big green treees and Chris' plants on the patio yesterday.    77 degrees yesterday.

Also, if you look at the last ten years of my pictures from summer months and even some cooler days, you will see the same shirts and hats in my pictures.   Some great eveidence.

By the way, you can probably tell its winter just because of the hats and same shirt in those pictures also.

So, for the dectectives who think all trees loose there leaves in winter, or there is no such a thing as green grass in winter.   Big deal!!!!!!

I'm sure there are some guys that can tell you they have seen snow melt and winter rye grasses are green as can be after snow melts off, grass  as green as it is in the summer.

And Chris takes the plants out on good days to water and let them drain.

I have seen so many bass that looks the same, i'm not gonna try to play CSI by sight of pictures only.    Good Grief!!!!

If he lied, its between him and his maker, not you or me.     I don't disagree with all of it either.

I looked at my pictures last night.      Based on plants, grass, clothes, same dead trees on Fork, and such, i'm glad I haven't ever posted or bragged.      You guys are brutal.

Integrity, its a funny thing in Cyber space.    Alot of us have met, most of us haven't.     Integrity allows us to take a handle, a name we have never used before, live anywhere we want, be anyone we want to, and we are supposed to believe it all.    I take every thing with grain of salt, believe what sounds believable to me, and thats all that matters.

Whether HBA did or didn't does not reflect upon me at all.

My name is Matt Fly, and thats real, nothing to hide behind.   So when you speak of integrity, look whos took a different idenity to begin with!!!!  How honest is that.    White lie or not, its a lie, true?  Do I mind the handles?  NO.

And ya'll get upset about someone not being honest.

Based on pictures, trees and grass and same clothes, thats nothing at all, not after reviewing my pictures and being observant at looking at trees the past few days.

Then based on expert photo ID.     Thats brutal!!!!!!

Ya'll have a nice day!!!!!!   jsut my 2 cents.

HBA - please provide a link to the news story covering this spill (or chemical leak).  I would like to learn more about it, but am having difficulty finding the info.

Thanks!

Earlier, there was some one claiming BS due to other story. Then they removed it or some one cleaned it up. Talk about some snakes in the grass that won't even leave an accusation posted. Ya'll know who you are.

Then we have all these experts that have worked hazmat for lots of years. That know exactly what happens.

Looks like ya'll might need some more training.

Any way, ya'll know who you are that basically called him a liar and removed your post.

Heres the story right off of Google, chlrorine and Medicine park, some detectives. LOL

Just read the link provided by Matt Fly.  As stated above, I will retract my BS claim.

Thanks Matt

I don't claim to belong to the morality police but the accusations of dishonesty did seem a bit harsh.  Especially since the facts (external validation from a news source-in this case) weren't yet in.

Ok,

As of right now. It is in SouthWestern Oklahoma... not SE OK,I never said SE OK.

The Little town of Medicine Park.

The City Of Lawton wich has the water treatment plant, maybe 100 yard's from my house.

They have had a leak of chlorine from 1 of their tanks since sometime last week.

The fish are dead & they acpect all the shellfish to die as well.

Only in certain part's of the creek ::).

Since this morning 2-3 New's crews have showed up & filmed this Creek.

Two of wich,I know are channel 7 & channel 3.

Last nite on the 10 O' clock news on channel 7..they were report'n on it.

They had video of dead fish & the Maior of the town of Medicine Park in a interview.

I seen the inmate's... scope'n up the dead fish from the creek this morning.  Mostly Rainbow Trout.

Last,I hade heared they say the water in the creek where i catch my bass is ok.They said they took water samples of it for chlorine.

This is all,I know as of now.  H.B.A.

Hey I'm sorry to hear about that. That really blows. If the town where I fish polluted the ponds and killed all the fish, I would go Ape Sh!t.

Its awful how a whole ecosystem was destroyed because some dumb@$$ F'D up  >:(
